coursingthru Posted January 29, 2004 Share Posted January 29, 2004 I would like a man to explain to me why my ex finance expected me to get over my traumas I suffered in the month of May and here is his exact quote today when I told him I feel alive again after 6 months of darkness and getting through my grief and challenges: "I just wish you would have come back to life and dealt with your challenges back in May, that’s all. God has given you a clean start. I hope everything works out great for you and your daughter." and when I explained to him that I am glad I found out now what kind of guy he truly was after 3 years, here was his response: "You were shown what kind of man I “truly” was and you could not accept that you deserved such a man. " and I replied with: And please get over yourself , I know what I deserve. It frustrates me that some men expect you to snap your finger - and be completely healed. I don't get it? I have no idea how they expect you to heal in a blink of the eye but your partner should be there for you, MORE SO when you are in a fragile state. From the fact that he is your ex, I take it that he isn't a very understanding person and you did get rid of him. Although some men would respond differently when their significant other gets depressed, our thoughts would probably be the same. Not all men would be insensitive in a case like this. But you have got to understand that he is a man. You know how masculinity is... The majority of guys usually just try to snap their finger and make the problem go away. It is a proven fact that their are more male suicides because of that fact. It is out of the box when we spill our problems and take longer to heal. I think you know why guys act like this.
