Men: would you be put off by a girl having a PhD in math?

In general, having a PhD is a definite plus in my eyes. :) Though through a more stereotypically less social department like math or engineering, I'll generally look for information to prove her independence and ability to hold her own in conversation, slash take herself away from her books and research to watch a movie or have spontaneous intimate encounters. Seems like the OP has those bases covered, along with quite the line of potential suitors. ;)

I find that sometimes it helps when you find a way to describe your profession in the most simple, practical terms as possible. A lot of my favorite professors in college are doing pretty insane, top-level research projects but also describe them very clearly in two sentences or less even to those who don't have any background in the subject. For example, my professor's colleague at a different school was working on trying to find a cheaper way to make medicine, so he took genes that make malaria medicine and stuffed them into plants to see if he could turn your petunias into malaria medicine factories. How that works is actually significantly more complicated, especially if you try reading the abstract from the paper, but that short description was really interesting to me despite my complete lack of bioengineering experience at the time.
