yes
i have a presentation to do next week. i'm quite nervous about it because the audience is more experienced in the field than i am; also because some of the professors who decide whether or not to admit me next year are going to be present; also because i always get nervous abt presentations. a friend of mine offered to listen to me practice it, and i feel panic at the thought of doing it in front of him alone - so imagine my panic when i'll see 20 pairs of eyes on me. *brrr* anyway, the problem is that i can't get myself to start working on it!... i do a tiny bit and rationalize into doing something else. i've even thought about dropping the course suddenly, or getting sick so that i cannot present. but i like the topic of my presentation, and i think that if i give it enough time i can do a decent job. so - somebody kick me! -yes
moimeme
Do just 15 minutes. Promise yourself a treat if you do the 15minutes. Plan to do another 15 minutes in an hour or so. Something that seems insurmountable as a whole can be that much more manageable in bits.

longlegzs80
You and I are really really similar. Anywho, when I was in college, I hated doing presentations especially infront of alot of people. I found if I was in a group doing one of those group presentations, I was not too too bad. But it was still hard. Let me give you some pointers. 1. Be confident. Remember others don't know your topic as well as you do, so make sure you do the step by step explaination of your topic. Have them broken down in categories. Now, can you show video clips, do a slide show, visuals(posters, charts) etc? 2. For you to be confident or feel really confident about yourself and your topic, I would personally dress to impress. For some odd reason when I get dressed up, there is no one who can bring me down and I end up having this feeling of confidence and sex appeal come over me. I suggest you do it. 3. Realize that you are human and everyone makes mistakes. Don't worry about little mistakes. Just focus on your presentation and really know your topic. You will blow them out of their socks if you come in with confidence and know your topic. 4. Don't practice. Well, this depends on how you are. If this is a topic you can just talk up, then go for it. Make sure you use quotes, facts just any information. I know with my senior project and with me showing my artwork to my audience of only roughly 10 or alittle less people, I was commended on how my presentation was kick ass. That was because I did not practice. I knew my stuff from just working on projects and felt confident from getting dressed up and having friends who were in the room supporting me. 5. Look at who your speaking to. Don't read anything unless it is a quote and make sure you give the author of who said the quote. Have note cards, but have just topic headings and bold words that you talk about. If you have a note card filled with info, that is great, but DO NOT READ IT. Talk about the topic like you know it. And make sure you look at the audience. Picture them naked, look around the room, look above their heads anything that will make you have your eyes in the audiences direction then down reading a note card. **You will do fine. Just do alot of deep breathing beforehand and people will realize that you are nervous, but just know your topic inside and out. I have been told this by an art director for a job interview, but this pertains really to anything. So hear it is. You want to set the stage so to speak as far as what the feel of the presentation will be. That is where the confidence comes in. Walk into the room as if you are not nervous, your dressed to impress, and you know the topic. I totally have faith in you that you will do fine. Anywho, what is your topic on?
