I can do so good, but on some days, I JUST CAN'T EAT ENOUGH!!! HELP!

Recommended Posts

I have been doing so well. Low fat breakfast, lunch, and dinner, fruit snacks, and hitting the gym.

Yesterday, I got a terrible headache, and left work early. I ate one meal yesterday evening once I started feeling better, and the meal helped to diminish my headache completely.

This morning, I woke up starving. Once I got to work, I ate my usual grain bar for breakfast, but I didn't get full. Then, someone brought donuts to work. I ate one. I went home for lunch, and ate a huge can of cambles soup. I came back to work, and half an hour later, I was starving again. I pinched off a peice of another donut to curb my hunger, but it didn't help. When the office boy went to the post office, I asked him to grab me a happy meal. I just ate it, and I'M STILL STARVING!!!! I haven't had access to anything healthy all day, and I'm so freakin hungry, I'm starting to get another headache.

This day has been one huge failure on my "eat smart" plan.

:( Why did this happen? :(

have you discussed your doctor about wanting to adopt a sensible diet plan? if he's in on the game, he can help you plan a regimen suited to your needs, especially if you're hypoglycemic or diabetic.

I know that people often just strike out on their own without knowing what their health situation is first, and end up hurting themselves rather than helping, the hypo-/hyperglycemia situation are a good example of that ...

You need to eat well to be healthy - just cutting calories doesn't cut it. Most sources now say that you need at least some protein in the morning to get you going and that if you eat a decent breakfast, you won't starve the rest of the day. You should have a healthy balance of protein, carbs, and a small amount of fats per meal if you can. Try the Zone diet; it's about moderation and is fairly healthy as fads go. A grain bar hasn't much of use to you unless you have some yogourt or nuts to go with it; and it still doesn't have many calories. If you want to go the bar route, at least eat a meal replacement bar.

Make sure you get lots of water; dehydration can give you headaches.

Be prepared .....pack 3 or 4 fruits to take to work with you. An apple , orange, pear, or any other fruit will give you just under a 100 calories ( Except bananas) and a bunch of vitamins and antioxidants. Fat free yogurt great snack and source of protein. Have a larger breakfast. Eat 4 or five small meals a day. Test things out and don't punish yourself when you have a bad day. Stuff happens.

And yes food takes away a bad headache.

Poor You!!!!

Have been there!!! Whats with the diet food? All that does is tell your brain you are being deprived!! What that does is to make you very hungry.

Been a yo-yo dieter most of my life, but have now maintained a healthy weight for over 5yrs! How?

Believe it or not I eat more now than I did when I was very overweight. The difference is I eat loads of carbs..... bread, pasta, rice, cereals, pulses etc very "filling" Foods high in fat dont get past my door! Low fat options are available in most foods (including fries!) Plenty of protein i.e. lean meat always grilled or oven cooked, plenty of fish mmm. Vegetables and fruit (most kinds) are unlimited! There is so much on my plate there wouldnt be room for a donut! Never snack between meals as I'm just not hungry!

I make sure I never laze around after a meal.... that kick-starts the metabolism... nothing is "forbidden" I choose not to eat it!! Can go out for a meal and eat what I want knowing that for 99% of the time my eating habits are good. No guilt complex.

There is a very good proverb that I have found to be so true.... Breakfast like a King, Lunch like a Prince, and dine like a pauper lol.

Hope this helps

Good luck

Morticia xx

The greasy junk, like fries, donuts and Doritos, somehow does not satisfy you mentally even when it is quite high in calories. Satiety (satisfaction) from food is complex, and involves not just nutritional factors, but also psychological ones. A wholesome meal full of texture and fiber, that you anticipate, then eat slowly, in a pleasant atmosphere, while chatting with friends or family, will satisfy you more than a Happy Meal gulped in haste.

Make sure your meals are big enough so you don't even reach for the donuts. I have had good results keeping Ry-Krisp in my desk at work - the flavored kind is quite tasty with a Diet Coke, and it takes forever to chew, too. Unlike a soft donut, which is gone in three bites almsot before you even realize you're eating it.
