Other media that reminds us of our SO

Recommended Posts

There are multiple threads about songs that remind us of our SO, but I haven't seen any about other media like movies, books, artwork, and heck, even commercials, etc. What are some that make your heart happy and make you smile because you've been smacked in the face with an unexpected memory?

Here are a few of mine:

Movie: Wall-E; we both watched it at separate times, but it made us think of each other. Plus he's IT, so the whole geek factor really plays a part, and he's a bit more introverted than me (I'm almost too extraverted sometimes!) so Wall-E and Eva fit us pretty well too lol.

Book: The Time Traveler's Wife; the way Audrey Niffenegger describes the feeling of waiting and wanting every time Henry disappears into a different time beyond control and leaves Clare behind always reminds me of how it feels sometimes when I can't be with my SO to hold him and feel safe and at home.

Also, the little details about what they do and how they feel which describe how in love they are, and the kind of love they have, feels just like how I feel when I do get to be with my SO.

TV: the FIFA soccer matches; He's from Spain, I'm an American. I've never paid much attention to soccer, but now I have to watch every time Spain plays! I haven't seen him with a soccer ball yet, but he's gonna teach me how to kick the ball in the direction I want it to go when he visits in 1.5 months!!

There's plenty more where these came from but I'm gonna leave my list off here for now. I'm excited to see what you guys come up with!! :bunny:

Muse. She would marry Matt Bellamy if Kate Hudson didn't have her hands on him:p

Anything related to Australia for obvious reasons :p

There are certain words/phrases that she says funny with her accent

Rice Krispees. They have a funny name back where she lives

Emo music:p

I could list things for a long time.

Ok, the bubble part is true but it is my most hated music.

People that are as happy as we are when together will always look great together. :)

Hmm some things....

Baseball. Which I admit he may convert me to. Go Yankees! hehe kidding. Tigers.

Two and a half Men and the simpsons. We've been dorks and both times I've visited we've watched them a lot. Someone has them on dvd. :p

Anything Detroit/Michigan and my ears perk up. And it happens quite often actually.

LS of course. :)

Hmm Pontiac Bonneville's because that's the type of car he has and he's obsessed with his car and calls it "the other woman", lol.

The movie Interstella 5555, because he's the only one person I know other than myself who can watch it over and over again and not get annoyed by it's lack of words.

Tim Horton's reminds me of him because he took me there to get some coffee on my second day there because he swore I just had to try it.

Coke also because it reminds me of how his lips taste usually as he's always drinking it.

aww these are all so fun to read!

Pyro and CE, you two are still way too adorable.;)

txsilk, you sound a bit bitter about that "damn car" haha. hopefully some of the reminders you see give you warm fuzzies inside instead of making you sad. :)

aero, I love the coke one! I wish my SO ate or drank something regularly so I could be reminded of his kisses in that way! haha and his cologne is a Spanish one, so I never smell it on any of the guys here. boo!

Nemi, NYC reminds me of mine too! We met for the first time romantically there. It's such a great place!

LisaLee, what a great mix of things that remind you of your SO! Pokemon... too cute! And the baking together is so sweet!

A couple more on my end, 'cause it's just too fun to share these things!

-Comic Books: he always has one with him to read on the metro, or when he's visiting me and I'm doing something else. He sent me one on my birthday! It's the Scott Pilgrim story, one that will hold my attention and not confuse me hahaha

-ok, this one's a little odd, if not morbid... Michael Jackson: My dad called me to tell me that he died while I was on a stroll in Central Park with my sweetie. So every time I hear MJ it gives me warm fuzzies and makes me sad at the same time. Is that bad? O.o

-Airplanes! Every time I see one I think "he'll be on one of those soon!" or "I'll be on one soon!"

Carvidep airplanes remind me of my SO too and now that song Airplanes by B.O.B reminds me of him because of the chorus for some reason, lol. I guess because it's talking about how she wishes airplanes were like shooting stars so she could make a wish and I wish I was on a plane headed to see my boyfriend or him headed to see me when I see one.

Okey dokey,

Monkeys - we have this whole monkey thing going on - ha ha. I am little chimp and he is big gorilla, seriously! Ha ha ha.

America and the place where he lives.

The Monkey house - Catcher in the Rye and Wuthering Heights - first few books we read

at the same time. We would read a few chapters and then share our thoughts (he had read Cacther in the Rye a few times already, but it was fun sharing our perceptions).

QI - A British TV show we like to watch together and Family guy - reminds me of spooning on the couch and feeling sleepy.

Making pizza and cooking his favourite oatmeal cookies together.

Whenever I hear this hideous British TV advert I think of him, because the tune to it drove us crazy - ha.

I love Sci-Fi films so we watched Blade Runner at the same time on our laptops while on the phone ( I had a really good international calling package).

Twitter - we twitter each other EVERY day throughout the day. I love twitter, because it's private and just for us.

Photo's of us, his family, my son, and him - he is on my desktop right now--beautiful smiling face.

Clothes he has left here for his other visits - sometimes I wear one of his t-shirts to bed when I am really missing him. I have even placed a pair of his house shoes under my bedside cabinet, so that it looks like he is here.

Gin and tonic and Southern comfort - we got really drunk on both of those two at separate times.

Just soooo many things....

Ahh, this reminds me of something my boyfriend and I do and was going to suggest it (in case others have not done it before, but it wouldn't surprise me if they already have ;))

With Netflix you can sign into the same account on different computers. What we do a couple of times a week is he uses my account and we watch a movie or documentary on their instant play in sync with each other while on Skype. It works out quite nicely and kind of breaks the monotony of just being on the computer together.

So I guess Netflix would be a media that makes me think of him.

oh man! I have a Netflix account but he can't access the site where he lives. boooo! ;)

I'm glad that it works for the two of you though! :)

Spirit: the monkey thing sounds interesting... but I shouldn't be one to talk! haha

Aero: I totally agree with you on the Airplanes song. I think it's really cute how she uses her imagination to create her own shooting stars to wish on. ;)

Well I have a few more things to add that I forgot, lol.

While I was visiting my boyfriend he gave me a pair of black socks to wear when my feet got cold because I dumbly forgot to pack some, haha. So when before I left he snuck a second pair in my backpack so I'd stay warm when I got back home. So now every time I see his socks I think of him.

He also gave me one of his old hoodies before I left. I wore it everyday while I was there with him and made sure I gave him a ton of hugs so it'd retain his smell for awhile when I got back. ;) Now it's been washed, but it still has lots of good memories and when I put it on it reminds me of him wrapping his arms around me to give me a big hug.

Aero, the hoodie story is adorable! I'm waiting for the day that my SO leaves his hoodie with me. I'm a midwest girl, I need it more than he does! I also have a pair of his socks, so I can relate there hahaha. So random!

:bunny: These are so much fun to read! Add some more! :bunny:

Here's one more from my end. It's not necessarily media, but w/e, let's bend the rules a bit. ;)

-Every time I look in the mirror, whether I'm wearing makeup or just got out of bed, I remember the last time he called me pretty or beautiful, which is almost always the same day or the night before. :)
