AVR1962 Posted July 14, 2010 Share Posted July 14, 2010 My inlaws kiss on the lips is fine, not a problem for me, but what I do not like is they INSIST that they have to kiss me and my family on the lips too. For me and my daughters, greeting our inlaws would be comfortable if we were to only hug, I hug my own family. I once tried to turn my cheek to my mother-in-law and she forced my face forward to kiss her. My youngest (13) does not even want to see her grandfather and she sure doesn't want him kissing her on the lips. Should I ask my husband to say something? Link to post Share on other sites

Some of my middle Eastern/FSU/CIS friends I kiss on both cheeks. Regardless, I feel you should not be 'forced' to do something you find uncomfortable. They should respect your physical boundaries. Your husband can have a private talk with his parents. He might be their son but he's a man and your husband and *your* family takes precedence.
