Songs to cope...

lullaby

This isn't a song that you'd appreciate listening to the day after you break up. This is best heard a few months, years, whatever down the road. My problem is that I get angry thinking about all the time I wasted on him and who I could have met during that time. But this song helps me realize that I shouldn't have any regrets and that I did indeed learn something from the relationship, and to be happy that it's over.

Stars - Your Ex-Lover is Dead

I agree wholeheartedly.......aaaaaaand now I'm a Stars fan :D Thanks for the suggestion, I loved it. I've got a suggestion of my own. This band don't usually write love songs like this, but when they do, they do it fu*king good! Amazing song with lovely lyrics

^ Enter Shikari - Adieu

One of my most fav songs now. You're welcome.

Clouds Of Loneliness Gordon Lightfoot

What can you do, you'll never win

Where will you go when night closes in

Where will it lead, will it ever end

Where will it stop, losing a friend isn't

What we had in mind exactly

All we need is a friend I guess

With my midnight star to guide through

Clouds of loneliness

You knew someone but was it love

So many years push came to shove

You had a dream, so they had one too

You turned away, they were untrue

In our early days we were too willing

At the time we had yet to arrive

Many a man and woman found

Trying to stay alive

Where will you go, what will you do

When your whole world ain't talking to you

Maybe you think you will see the light

Maybe you'll find what you hope is right

And I'm all dressed up to be somebody

All I need is a friendly face

With my midnight crowd to glide through

Clouds of empty space

Seems like every time we turn around

What we see could be anyone's guess

Many a man and woman found in

Clouds of loneliness

Sara Evans

Woke up late today,

and I could still feel the sting of pain,

but I brushed my teeth anyway.

Got dressed through the mess, and

put a smile on my face.

I got a little bit stronger.

Riding in the car to work,

and I try to soothe all the hurt.

There's a song on the radio,

stupid song made me think of you.

I listened to it for a minute,

but then I changed it.

I'm getting a little bit stronger.

Just a little bit stronger.

And I'm not hoping we can work it out.

I'm done with how I feel.

Spinning my wheels,

letting you drag my heart around.

And I'm not thinking you could ever change.

I know my heart will never be the same.

But I'm telling myself I'll be OK,

even on my weakest day.

I get a little bit stronger.

It doesn't happen overnight.

But you turn around and a months gone by,

and you realize you haven't cried.

I'm not giving you an hour, or a second,

or another minute longer.

I'm busy getting stronger.

And I'm not hoping we could work it out.

I'm done with how I feel.

Spinning my wheels,

letting you drag my heart around.

And I'm not thinking you could ever change.

I know my heart will never be the same.

But I'm telling myself I'll be OK,

even on my weakest day.

I get a little bit stronger.

Just a little bit stronger.

Getting along without you baby.

Better off without you baby.

How does it feel without me baby?

I'm getting stronger without you baby.

Get a little bit stronger.

Just a little bit stronger.

Little bit, little bit, little bit stronger.

Get a little bit stronger.

^ I Walked by Sufjan Stevens. I posted this elsewhere but it deserves to be mentioned here sheerly for the amazing lyrics, and I know some peeps here will appreciate it.

Lover, will you look at me now?

I'm already dead to you

but I'm inclined to explain

to you what I could not before

Whatever you didn't do, what you couldn't say

I am sorry that the worst has arrived

For I deserve more.

And at least I deserved the respect of a kiss goodbye

Tell me, do you think of me now

as I think of you?

For I could not have shaken the touch of your breath on my arm

For it has stayed in me as an epithet

I am sorry the worst has arrived

For I'm on the floor

In the room where we made it our last touch of the night

I walked, cause you walked

but I won't probably get very far

sensation to what you said

but I'm not about to expect something more

I would not have run off

but I couldn't bear that it's me

It's my fault

I should not be so lost

but I've got nothing left to love

Lover, will you look from me now

I'm already dead

but I've come to explain

why I left such a mess on the floor

For when you went away

I went crazy. I was wild with the breast of a dog

I ran through the night

with the knife in my chest

with the lust of your loveless life

I walked, cause you walked

but I won't probably get very far

sensation to what you said

but I'm not about to expect something more

I would not have run off

But I couldn't bear that it's me

It's my fault

I should not be so lost

But I've got nothing left to love

I walked, cause you walked

Don't Think I Don't Think About It

Darius Rucker

I left out in a cloud,

Of taillights and dust.

Swore I wasn't comin back,

Said I've had enough.

Saw you in the rearview standin,

Fadin from my life.

But I wasn't turnin round,

No not this time.

(chorus)

Don't think I don't think about it.

Don't think I don't have regrets.

Don't think it don't get to me,

Between the work and the hurt and the whiskey.

Don't think I don't wonder 'bout,

Coulda been, shoulda been all worked out.

I know what I felt, and i know what i said...

But don't think I don't think about it...

When we make choices,

We gotta live with them.

Heard you found a real good man,

and you married him.

I wonder if sometimes,

I cross your mind.

Where would we be today,

If i never drove that car away.

(chorus)

Don't think I don't think about it

(chorus)

Don't think I don't,

Don't think I don't...

Out of all the songs i've been listening to recently, this one has definitely spoke out to me the most, helped me look ahead a bit.
