how I lost 25 lbs in 3 months

Recommended Posts

at the end of high school, I, a male, was 5'1", and weighed 143 lbs. However, about 6 months after high school ended, I gained a LOT of weight. When I went for a doctor's check-up in August 2008, a little after my first semester at college ended, I weight 173, thats right, ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY-THREE pounds. At my height, that doesn't look very good. I tried cutting down food in my diet, but it didn't work. I began dipping in October 2008, but I didn't dip that much. So during five days in May 2009, when I still weighed 169 lbs., I began a new diet, began working out, and continued dipping. The catch: I began a low-carb diet of minimal bread, no regular soda, no drinks with sugar, no candy, no ice cream or cookies, no pasta, increased my meat intake, and began guzzling Coca Cola Zero. I worked out on the elliptical everyday, starting at 10 mins a day and moving to 15, and probably very important: I increased my dip intake from .5 tins a day to 1.25 tins a day. By the end of the summer, right before I began my junior year at college, I weight 151 lbs. I've been more or less the same weight ever since, even eating normally with a decent amount of carbs, tho I still avoid cookies and ice cream. These days I use snus, instead of dip which has the same amount of nicotine, but this weight loss is one of my life's proudest achievements.

I really regret my weight tho that I had on me for a year and a half: I probably would have met more girls when I started at my current school in fall 2008 had I been thin then. But let this be an inspiration story and manual of how to get thin quick.

Good job losing weight but I feel you are going about it all wrong.... plus some one your height should probably weigh less then 120lbs... seriously coke zero is probably better then regular coke... but zero coke is best.

Just drink water and stop with the nicotine. If you spread your meals out to 4-5 a day... drink only water... and avoid all processed foods and bread you can pretty much eat as much as you want... and as long as you take a nice walk 5 days a week for atleast 30 minutes my guess is some one your height would easily weigh around 120 or less if you are a girl.

The way you are going about it now with the coke zero and nicotine sound like a bad idea.

I'm a guy. I'd kind of look emaciated if I weighed 120 lbs.

And when they cut off half your jaw you may even drop another 1/2 pound!

I use snus now, instead of dip which is way safer because it has barely any TSNA's (tobacco specific nitrosamines-ie cancer agents) http://smallbusiness.findlaw.com/finances-taxes/news/hdocs/docs/tobacco/masnuffsstudy.pdf and it still has the nicotine which keeps my metabolism hi

Oh, my. :(

This is like posting that your secret weight loss trick was doing a lot of blow.

First off, spin it as you like, but chew/snuff/dip whatever - isn't without significant health risks. The chances of oral cancers are much higher, and won't you look hot with no jaw!

This is what Roger Ebert looks like, after having jaw cancer:

Not to mention, as a woman, a guy doing smokeless tobacco is a HUGE turnoff. So, if you did this to get women, its going to backfire.

You are heading down a VERY slippery slope, my friend. Check yourself, before you wreck yourself.

but I also posted how I ate low carbs and avoided sweets/carby food

That, plus exercise, is a good story, and good advice.

But, recommending nicotine and caffeine (which are drugs) for weight loss - nope.

You want to keep your metabolism high? Cardio and small meals throughout the day.

You could make a case about the nicotine, but I don't think the diet soda part is that bad, considering how being obese can clog your arteries, cause diabetes, with a risk level higher than snus tho maybe the same as actually snuff/dip tobacco. I'd quit nicotine if I could keep the weight off.

I will admit that transitioning to Diet Mountain Dew was crucial for me to get to that next level...but soda is something that I probably couldn't do without, so diet soda is simply an alternative to a less healthy drink...

The problem with your first post, OP, is that it feels like you are telling us that the key to weight loss is consuming diet soda and using nicotine...even if we don't drink soda or use tobacco products to begin with!

And weight loss isn't just about not eating cookies and ice cream...

Have ya heard of water? ;)

Diet soda (besides an occasional one) is horrible for your body, particularly since you were drinking it caffeinated, and in large quantities. Do some research on how artificial sweeteners affect your blood sugar levels, and therefore, your ability to lose weight, and store fat.

You're really messing with your health in very bad ways. If your key to weight loss is to keep taking nicotine, you're ripe for a slew of health problems.

You crash dieted, and supplemented that with drugs. Your weight loss method and maintenance is unsustainable for the long haul. Sooner than later, you will put the weight back on, only then, you will not only be overweight, but addicted to nicotine and caffeine to boot.

Not strong enough

Btw id quit the snus, unless you do want your teeth to fall out, i always had a thing for skoal bandits because of the taste, started out on long cut, went to the bandits when i got sick one time, and stayed on them because of the flavor even though they were weak. Went back to long cut because those pouches, of any sort, cause havoc on your gums. It's like wet sanding them. If your actually trying to quit, as expensive as it is, nicotine gum.

Using a low-carb diet is an effective way to lose weight, but not very healthy..as your body needs carbs like rice, pasta, bread, ect. The trick is to eat them in small portions and in whole grain form.

Nicotine is NOT a healthy way to keep weight off. I think you'd be better off weighing a little more and not dipping then the other way around! I would rather date a guy who weighed a little bit more and didn't use nicotine!

And diet soda is fattening, it makes you retain water and has sodium and chemicals that can make you bloat. I cut down on diet soda and saw a HUGE change in water rentention and puffiness.

Congrats on the weight loss, but this was not a healthy way of doing it.
