dyermaker
There's no such thing as a safe cigarette. Drink two cans of coke, and inhale the fumes from a campfire--that should do you. Smoking is a decision that almost 100% of people who make it regret, and it's not as easy to quit as you think. There's no safer way, if they made a safe cigarette, you wouldn't get addicted, and they wouldn't make enough money. As for clove cigarettes, HELL no! That crap will ***** you up, *way* faster than anything Joe Camel will sell to you.
befuddled11
"grow up, gawd" That's a rude thing to write to someone. As for clove cigarettes, HELL no! That crap will ***** you up, *way* faster than anything Joe Camel will sell to you. Lots of people trying to quit smoking but haven't yet kicked the "habit" have resorted to herbal cigs....many health food stores sell them. What makes you assert that clove cigarettes will ***** a person up faster than the regular cigs (which contain tons of carcinogens and all kinds of toxic chemicals)? Do you have some kind of source to back up this statement? Now to the original poster, please, on behalf of those of us who struggle with trying to kick this filthy, stupid, health-robbing habit......DON'T TRY IT. One drag can be enough to hook you. There's really no such thing as a safer cigarette....God only knows what kind of sh*t they put in them these days. If you live in the U.S., check out the American Lung Association Website to find out more info on the toxic ingredients in cigs, if you live in Canada, check out the Canadian Lung Association's site. I started smoking back when I was 16 (I'm 20 now) out of curiosity, that is all. I had actually grown up in a home where both parents smoked a lot, and up until I was 16 and "curious", I was disgusted with smokers, smoke, the whole shebang. I first started by "having a drag" while out with friends partying.....and I was very quickly hooked. Please, don't do it. Ask any smoker and they'll tell you that just one cig can be enough to hook you....and it's hell to quit.
HokeyReligions
PLEASE don't do it! It is nasty, expensive, disgusting, and dangerous. If you see a smoker look at them hard and realistically---they are not cool! http://www.cancer.org/docroot/PED/content/PED_10_13X_Guide_for_Quitting_Smoking.asp?sitearea=PED
UCFKevin
Nahhh I don't know about that. I smoked for the dumbest of reasons, peer pressure, at my old job, it took a while to get hooked, before I'd just have one or two a day when my coworkers went on break, to hang out outside and gab about BS, and eventually, like months later, I would initiate the breaks and it soon became like three or four cigarettes a day and finally my buddy said, "Dude, you're addicted." And I was like, "NOOOOOOO!" And I quit. Just like that . *snaps fingers*. It kicked my ass, though, your throat repairs itself and ugh, it was horrible. Very phlegmy. I wouldn't bother trying cigarettes. You might hate them, you might love them, but what's the big deal? So what?
dyermaker
Befuddled, I'm going to ask you nicely to cut the parenting out--If there was a rule that you had to sugarcoat everything you post, so be it. I've noticed that you really don't like anything I have to say. Rather than disrupt the continuity of a given thread by correcting my tone, perhaps you could set it so that you don't have to view posts that I make? Thanks. Anyway, to top it all off, you're very wrong. "Herbal Cigarettes" (bidis) are marketed as safer, but as I said earlier. "CLOVE CIGARETTES WILL ***** YOU UP" They have 2-3 times as much nicotine and Carbon Monoxide, and contain exponential amounts of "tar". Areas in which clove cigarette use is rampant have the highest oral cancer rates in the world. befuddled11
I will not apologize for calling you on your rude subject line to the poor original poster who merely asked a simple question. To tell someone, "grow up, gawd" is totally uncalled for and if you can't see that, you've got problems. People should not be treated such that they're afraid to ask a simple question, because they're going to ridiculed and talked down to. If anyone needs to grow up, it's you. Enough said. Arabess
Chinkyling, I smoke....so don't take this judgemental. If I had it to do all over....I wouldn't have ever started. It's expensive, messy, gets all in your clothes...and a whole lot of people don't smoke anymore. It's not really accepted socially any longer. If I didn't smoke....I wouldn't even date someone who did. Dyer is right...none of that crap is good for you. Wait till you get older and wheeze everytime you get a little bit of a cold. Not to mention the heart and long problems which can get you as well. I've only smoked for 6 years and would quit....other than now I don't know what I'd do while drinking a beer......LOL! lostforwords
My advice.... do not start smoking at all... count yourself as a very lucky person to be a non smoker!!! befuddled originally posted People should not be treated such that they're afraid to ask a simple question, because they're going to ridiculed and talked down to. wow befuddled.. i could dig out a few posts of just recent as well as past where you have antagonized, ridiculed as well as talked down to people. But I wont, seeing as how im sure we've all seen enough of it....... ......and in the words of Fez from That 70's Show.... "I say GOOD DAY SIR!"

Author chinkyling
k guys i have had a good amount of schooling and i know all of this health stuff. both my parents have smoked since they were 15 and 1 quit at 16 my aunt smoked for 20 yrs and quit when she wanted to. two family members have died from lung cancer i have tried other "addictive" things b4 just to try em and i did it once and stopped. cigarrettes should have probably been the first thing i tried...what im trying to say is im passed being able to be talked out of it... i am going to try it. but i wanted to know which is the least harmful way ..like lights and filtered instead of regular ones. but i guess i wont get that from here. im not getting answers to my question im seeing stuff i already know thanx anyway
befuddled11
No there's no such thing as a "less harmful cigarette." Even the ones that are "light" contain as much and often times MORE tar and nicotine (yes, I've compared, because I used to have this false sense of ?security that a "light" or "special mild" cig wasn't as bad...but it was all BS when I started reading the amount of ingredients on the packs). I'm a little shocked that considering you've had 2 family members die of lung cancer, that you're so DETERMINED to start such a stupid habit. I can't help but think if I had someone in my family who died like this, it would shock the hell out of me, and cause me to seriously get my head out of my arse and quit smoking. I guess you could always roll up some catnip and smoke that (JOKE!) If you came here expecting people were going to try and support you in your effort to take up a habit that's deadly, damn hard to quit, makes your hair and clothing stink, isn't even "cool" anymore, is costly, many workplaces and public places don't allow it, leads to heart problems, poor circulation, cancer of the mouth, etc...well, geez, what WERE you thinking? And just because you've known people who quit cold turkey very easily, that doesn't mean you'd be one of them. My parents smoked like chimneys when I was growing up....Dad smoked 2 packs a day at least. They both decided in 1980 to quit, cold turkey. It was a snap for Dad, much harder for Mom. I have battled with quitting for years, and I'm a nurse. I have tried acupuncture, hypnosis, the patch, the gum, you name it.
Arabess
Befuddled and I are both smokers. If we say it is a crappy habit.....we are not being judgemental....we are being brutally honest! I didn't start until 6 years ago......and sure wish I hadn't!!!!!!!!!

The least harmful way? Try the worst, the most disgusting non-filter you can find (I could try and send you a Russian one, but it may be considered as an attempt of murder ) And promise yourself that one time will be enough. Wounded Unicorn
www.cigarette.com has pics of all the nasty things that come from smoking...........I smoke and am finding it hard to quit. I did for 4 months though and I am going to try again. I just wish I had never gotten started. At $30 a week I could have much better use off all that money.......Please don't even try one single puff. Do yourself a favor, stay healthy and pretty. Not even a smoker likes to taste the kiss of another smoker. That should tell you something. And just think........ your teeth will stay white too. Just remember............
