Author Lauriebell82
Haha, L_B, so that's why you've disappeared from this board over the summer. 7 weeks away and you're already calling out your friends for a being a liar. L_B, you need to take it slow or at least takes things one at a time. We don't want you stressed for your big day ( even though you already are). What are you talking about? And she isn't my friend, she's my mom's and she did lie. But you are right about taking things slow, I'm trying to just basically make it through each big task without getting upset. allina
LB, I found the RSVP situation annoying, don't let that stress you out. I had to keep myself from thinking "grrr how hard is it to mail that response card back!?!?!" Since I don't wait to the last minute to do things I didn't realize other people did. Today was our deadline and I'm glad they are all in. 1 month to go for me, 1 month & 2 weeks for you! :bunny:
collegemommy
Did you guys stress at the beginning too? I just started the wedding planning and I keep hearing about now becoming a bridezilla. I feel pretty calm about everything so I just wonder if this is something that comes later in the planning process...

So far we have gotten quite a few in considering we mailed out 120 invitations. Hopefully they will all have come in by our deadline in 2 weeks! I can't believe our weddings are getting so close!!! allina
Did you guys stress at the beginning too? I just started the wedding planning and I keep hearing about now becoming a bridezilla. I feel pretty calm about everything so I just wonder if this is something that comes later in the planning process... I have been pretty mellow about the entire process. The most stressful thing for me was planning the wedding we wanted when his mom was extremely rude and pushy about what she wanted. It was important for me to be understanding that weddings in their culture are very different and to pick my battles with her. Also, since all our extended family is over seas I was a little worried about who would be able to come. that was why i skipped RSVP's all together That sadly wasn't an option for us. For one, we are having a plated dinner and due everyone having to travel we has no clue about who was able to come. Was the food at your reception family style? Yeah, our responses are starting to come in now. So far we have gotten quite a few in considering we mailed out 120 invitations. Hopefully they will all have come in by our deadline in 2 weeks! I can't believe our weddings are getting so close!!! I'm getting so nervous! It's exciting getting those in the mail And LB, the more I watch these wedding shows the more I refuse to act like a bridezilla. It's always the ugly bride who seems to have no connection with the groom and no brain cells that runs around screaming about how she's a princess and this is her day

It's always the ugly bride who seems to have no connection with the groom and no brain cells that runs around screaming about how she's a princess and this is her day  Yeah, I will try to avoid that at all costs. I know I will be nervous though, so I'm going to have to make sure that I don't get anxious and freak if something doesn't go on schedule. That's usually when some bridezilla like qualities come out! We are waiting for the rest of the reply cards, we do still have 2 weeks but we DEFINATELY didn't get as many back so far as we thought. People are dragging their feet. Fiance has started calling me wifey..I tell him "not yet.."

I have to say that having a long engagement DOES have it's benefits. Although it's hard waiting, the stress isn't quite as bad. Like right now it's crunch time for me and I'm feelin a little nuts! Thanks LaurieBell We would have liked to do it really quick, but you know what it is like with waiting lists for your perfect church, reception venue, etc, and we wanted a summer wedding, so now it is next year...but the waiting is killing me, lol! allina
I'm getting excited reading this too, but thats no good - I have to wait until next Summer! The time will fly by faster than you can imagine! I remember booking my venue back in February, back then the wedding seemed so surreal and in the distant future. Now it's suddenly right around the corner, I have my wedding dress hanging in my closet and I'm finishing up the last minute details. A year or a year and a half really isn't that long of an engagement. Maybe that's because we got engaged in June but didn't really plan anything till February but it hasn't seemed long at all. allina
Yeah, he's scared of my family I think! 2 weeks, that's nuts! What all do you have left to do? Hang in there SSG, Allina and I are going to make it! Oh yeah, and our priest cancelled on us yesterday a month before our wedding. He found another priest who we have to meet with now and re-plan the ceremony. Ugh! I could freak out but I'm not! I'm so proud! LB, I moved this to this thread so that we don't hijack SSG's thread to much That's great that you didn't freak out over the priest issue, I'm proud. As for what I still have to do: *E-mail our cake lady because I gave her incorrect info regarding cake flowers *E-mail florist because I also told her we only want a couple flowers at the top but apparently me, my fiance and his mom agreed on more a couple months ago and I forgot *But this specific candy for the favors *Put together favor boxes *contact calligrapher to have our favors/place cards done *put together little bags of rice for the ceremony *pick out the song we will enter the reception to *finalize seating chart *pick our signature cocktail Yikes! Haha, wow! We are not having favors so that cuts out so much hassle and money! Our things to do: -Meet with dj -Meet with photographer -Give limo driver addresses/directions/instructions -Gather the rest of response cards and record them -Make seating chart -Meet with new priest/replan ceremony -Order place cards and ceremony programs -Buy bridal party gifts -Pick out rehearsal dinner food -Buy "extra" stuff for ceremony/reception (ring bearer pillow, guestbook, ect.) -Make gift baskets for guests staying at hotel -Go for final fitting, pick up dress There is probably more but DOUBLE YIKES!!! Oh yeah, I didn't include all the appointments. I am meeting with the event coordinator at the hotel this Saturday, doing the last meeting with the photographer on Sunday, with the DJ on Thursday. Then there are the appointments for hair, nails, facial, massage. I also still need to purchase a new Indian outfit for the rehearsal dinner and buy shoes to match it. In between that I'm picking my cousin up at the airport Friday night, then we're bringing her to my parent's house on Saturday after the meeting at the hotel to have dinner with all the family that is already arriving. Ok, suddenly my head is spinning
torranceshipman
Gift baskets for guests...that is a lovely idea I'd personally like us to do our own invitations, placeholders, table centers and favors, simply because I love the personal touch, and we have some cool ideas....but if they end up hokey we'll pay to have them done professionally, lol But we are having the wedding at a luxury resort so overall the quality will be very nice, so I think we can get away with personal touches...as it stands we might even email out invites...
