A Country Boy Can Survive

Recommended Posts

Well it turned out things aren't so bad.

Granted, I'm not living the life of a millionaire's son ~ and from what I've experienced and dealt with them haven't any use for the bastards.

For the better part of my life I've worked most weekends, most holidays, split ****s, second shifts, third shifts, forty, fifty, sixty even seventy to eighty hour weeks.

For the last going on six years (Come Oct), I worked every weekend and holiday (unless I took vacation)

The job I had you won't find at the state employment office, nor listed in the newspapers ~ because they don't won't to hire women nor blacks nor Hispanics. (We're talking rural Alabama here)

To do the job you don't have to have a college degree, but you do have to have a little more than a high school diploma. (Basic HS chemistry and math and such)

The population of the country that I live in? 33,000 of which 52% are women and 37% are African American ~ automatically disqualified from the job. Only 70% of the total population even have a HS degree.

The town in which I live in? Population ~ 15,000 of which 5,000 or more are college students.

The whelp of a middle son of the owner that got me fired? Doesn't even have a HS degree. Yet his ticket got punched the day he was born.

Joke is on them. I filed for un-employment ~ maybe I'll get it? Maybe I won't? 50/50 chance. I got two write up over six years ~ one for calling a manager at home over having problems calibrating an SO2 (Sulfuric Dioxide Monitor) that I should have known how to handled and dealt with after years of experience ~ which cost $10 of thousands of dollars to professionally calibrate every six months) ~ the other for not doing something I was never trained to do to begin with.

The third and final strike was I wrote a certification form for Bismuth as .090 instead of .009

A typo?

And I got fired for that!

But the joke is on them! Because I f**ked and did something right in my life? I retired from the United States Marine Corps!

Good luck finding some Joker that's willing to work every single damn weekend and holiday for the last six years! :p

My medical premium is only $19.17 a month, with a $12 co-pay. I've had to had some extensive dental work (mostly cleaning, couple of fillings, and some bridges) to the cost of a couple a thousand ~ paid nothing out of pocket.

I called the State Personal office and they confirmed that if I got a state job ~ any state job ~ paid into 20,000 into the State Retirement System? I could retire in five years.

I've got everything I need ~ not everything I want? But everything I need ~ and more.

Thank God I did my twenty in the Corps!

Thank God I went through Jungle Warfare Training.

Thank God I went through Mountain Warfare Training

Thank God I went through Desert Warfare Training.

There's parts of me that just want to lay down and die?

But there are stronger parts of ~ I guess the Marine part of me that say "F**k you and die!"

Not that I wish that on my own my XHEX? She cannot help herself for being dumb, ignorant and stupid. She is what she is!

For me a mistake of my youth.

You Go Girl

A country girl can survive too. I'm working on it. Something's wrong with the pressurization of the holding tank for my well pump, so the pressure is low. I haven't turned the gas back on yet so I take cold showers. At least it's summer!

stbx makes 6 figures and I am taking cold showers.

Not to the point of eating ramen noodles for dinner yet, and hopefully it won't get that bad.

A common problem in the US, I am another that has not figured out how to get affordable health insurance. I caught a summer cold this week, probably from stress and being run-down. If I needed antibiotics, I am still covered, but what about in a month when I'm not?

If you're going through hell, keep on going! Like that country song too.

Thanks Bro ~ and yea I'll do just fine.

I did something right for an old boy from rural Alabama?

I did my "twenty in the Corps!"

It was one Hell of a Mother ~ I'm here to tell you ~ and we could sit and drink whisky and spit in the fire all night long talking about it!

I'm glad I did it ~ proud I did it!

And just as damn proud that its done, did, and overwith.

Most of my adult life? I've worked my @zz off!

Weekends, holidays, second shift, third shift?

You know what?

Forget that! As I understand it? I can get a job with the State of Alabama (Whatever) invest $20K into of my own money into the retirement system and retire from the State of Alabama within five years

I don't know which country song you're referring to but the actual quote was attributed Whiston Churchill.
