jester
"Baggage" is the emotional , financial and existential burdens that one acquires going through life. It can range from dark attitude (world weariness, cynicism) to people (ex-spouse, kids living with ex-spouse or the person with baggage). A person with baggage is an adult. What we adults lack in youthful "lightness of being" we make up for in depth, gravitas and wisdom. A person without baggage is either very young...or dead.

reasontosigh
Armed with the knowledge that everyone has baggage, in one form or another, you might want to consider asking the next guy who complains what baggage of their own they're carrying!

We do all have baggage, unless you are really young, as Jester points out. It can be good, and bad. It can make you fearful, but also make you wise, and capable of even deeper love.
