So confused...

Recommended Posts

Maybe someone of the fairer sex can give me a little insight here...

Background:

I have a very close friend that I have know for the past six years. She and I went to high school for two years and we have kept in contact through college. Recently we have become closer. We have seen each other a few times in the past two months. We go to separate colleges and live about 400 miles apart. We do not get to see each other very often, but when we do it is amazing.

Problem:

This past weekend I asked her to be my girlfriend. We have been rather intimate with each other and we are so comfortable with each other. We both respect each other and trust each other.

That being said her response to my request was, "I want to say yes, but I do not think I can." She said that she is afraid of committment. I know there is no one else in her life so I'm having difficulties understanding her.

We are so close when we are together that it is incredible, but the distance between us when we are apart is just as extreme. She aslo told me that she doesn't know how she feels. Is this BS or actually possible? Can someone really not know how they feel?

She said that she believes that we are still in between Friends and Boyfriend/Girlfriend. Does this exist? I thought at first that we were having difficulty based on a matter of terms, but now I'm just so torn up inside that I don't know what to do. She's by no means wanting to give up what we have, but she won't take the next step and admit what I believe we already have.

I don't know what to do. I don't know how to feel. It hurts so much to love someone who shows they love you and they still will not admit it (I don't know how else to describe it).

Okay, i'm just going to lay it out in front of you: People can have confusing moments sometimes that keep them from knowing what is best for them, but I have never encountered someone who "doesn't know" how they feel about someone else. I think you should just let her be confused about her feelings and move on to brighter days. She's doing nothing but bringing you down and causing you heart ache.
