This thread is for anyone at all, who posts/posted on this board, and who is/was in an LDR, to post updates on how things are going for them. I know I haven't been posting much myself since I've been to the bf's country, and neither have lots of previously active people... but I see you guys lurking around, and I miss you! So if you'd like to keep in touch with the LDR community here, but don't feel like your post is worth opening a whole thread for, just post your updates here so the rest of us can catch up with you.

 

I'll start - just got back from an awesome trip with the bf during his vacation. It felt like being on honeymoon... all over again! On the other hand, though, I am slightly apprehensive; his work posting for next year will be out in a week's time or so, and depending on where he gets sent, we may either be able to live in the same place or be up to an hour's plane ride apart (same country). I am really tired of LDRs, and love the way the relationship is now with both of us in the same place, so I'm really hoping it won't be the latter.

Glad to hear things are going well for you Elswyth. I'm going to go visit my boyfriend in two month's time for my birthday and I'll be there for 3 weeks. But that's the only news I have for now, lol.

It is nice to hear from you again, Elswyth. I am also going to visit my boyfriend in two months, but only for about 8 days. We are driving to Ohio to check out the university there for grad school. I am eager to get through this year. I think after December our visits can be more frequent since I will be out of school and just working... I just need to be sure to work a lot so I can afford to take time off.

 

We are still shooting for the move in together to be around March or April, but we may put it off until August. All depends on if I can build a decent savings by April.

I'm meeting him in 9 days! And i'm really excited. He'll be here on vaca for a good whole month. Gosh, I miss him so much. Haven't seen him for 6 months. It's been depressing. But not for long now. Will totally be spending all my time with him. And while he's here, we're gonna discuss and do something about this LDR. Hopefully we can figure something out though. But it's somewhat planned that i'll be coming back to his place in January. Hopefully that happens. If not, I'll have to wait probably another 6 months or more till I see him again. Have my fingers and toes crossed for this.

AG - Great to hear that! I just realized this year will be the first time in 2 years that I'll be able to spend my birthday with the bf - it was always at an extremely inconvenient time of the year. At least you're luckier than that!

 

Lisa - Which of you is going to grad school in Ohio? I'm a tad confused.

Mathew is still waiting on his EAD and Greencard, so for now we're living at home with my mom. But we found a house and will be moving within the next month, yayyyy!!!!

 

Other than that, everything is peachy!

Both of us, me for social work and he for physics. I graduate this Dec, he graduates in May, so we will both be starting our graduate education in the fall of 2011. We are hoping to get into the same grad school. *fingers crossed*

Yeah well I'll be with him on my birthday but I won't get to be with him on his or Christmas since his birthday is only 2 days after Christmas. RC!!! Glad to see you and Mathew are doing well. And congrats on being able to move out into your own house soon. I don't think my boyfriend and I could live with my parents if we got married. We'd probably get on each other's nerves too much, lol.

Yeah, it's absolutely driving me crazy. But since I'm still in school I'm only working part time so up until now living with mom has been convenient and allowed me to save money. Then once we got married we figured why pay rent on a place that we're not sure we'll be able to keep the lease with? He's an engineer and in my area most people think that the only engineers are the kind that drive trains. So we're staying here until he gets his EAD, but he's already looking at jobs and emailing the right people. We've found a house that we're in love with and are ready to move in just as soon as he gets a job offer!

 

Being married to him is the best thing that's happened to me. Sure, it's not magic and fairies(I never thought it would be), but waking up next to him every morning and kicking him in the middle of the night when he toots(he's a night tooter ) sure beats waking up to a phone call and a cold right side of the bed. He's the peanut butter to my jelly and I'll love him forever, smelly toots and all.

Pyro is going to be filing the first of many, many forms in the next couple of days. Took awhile to get all the proof we needed to send it off with but it's finally ready to go. He will be probably coming here for Christmas. Apart from that, nothing much.

Thanks, Romance. I honestly think it'd be a great idea for you to go away from home for college, not just because of your bf, but also because it's a great experience to live away from home and see a new place. It's tough, but there really are more benefits than just a relationship, if you manage to pull through.

I moved a month ago (farther, not closer) and it's been rough. Every new day is the longest it's been since we last saw each other. I don't think we're going to see each other again until next spring, and that sucks. We won't be together for his upcoming birthday, the holidays, our anniversary... I suppose unlike most of you, our LDR is only just really starting.

I am really tired of LDRs, and love the way the relationship is now with both of us in the same place, so I'm really hoping it won't be the latter.

I'm moving tomorrow, but our situation still isn't settled. We might end up being long distance again, but hopefully not. If I find something good quickly, it might work out. I don't know how long he can last at that job before going totally crazy. It's all very stressful and upsetting. It's difficult to even enjoy ending the distance right now because we have no idea what's going to happen. And we were almost there, too.

Well after 6 months apart and so many things going wrong and doubts and our relationship on the brink of disaster, she came to see me for a day in july. We had the most amazing day together in so many ways. And it wasnt all just sex. It was everything you expect in being with someone you truelly love. Just holding her and talking, laughing. It really reconfirmed what we are fighting so hard for. We literally had 6 hours of alone time that day after she saw the kids and i unfortunately had to go to work for awhile that night but that little amount of time saved our relationship. It was a reminder of how this LDR bs is all worth it!

Haven't posted on here much lately.

 

We are still waiting on Immigration to finalize our file. We are 11 months and counting since we filed our application. It is so very frustration but we are coping.

 

Hubby was here in June to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary and it was just BLISS!

 

For now we just carry on like usual and have another visit planned for the christmas holidays if we dont hear from Immigration by then. So we have that to look forward to.

Today I told my mom that my boyfriend and I were actually an official couple and then she talked to him on the phone. Luckily for me she loves him so far and is happy for me. Now just another 7 weeks till I can hold him again.

I love my SO. He sent me a gift... I had been so depressed over his leaving I think it was his way of cheering me up. I had a note in my mailbox that there was a package at the office for me. I thought it was a mistake since I haven't ordered anything but I immediately knew it was from him when I opened it. Here is a pic:

It may be hard to tell because of the angle but it is a giant plushy of the T-Rex from my avatar. :love: He knows how much I love the webcomic and the character. The plushy has instant sentimental value!!

It's good it cheered you up some, we all know how down we can get after a visit. The sweet moments make it all worth it though.

Aww LisaLee that's sweet. My boyfriend gave me a teddy bear that smells like chocolate before I left because he knows how much I love chocolate, lol. Sometimes I pull it out and smile at it because it reminds me of him. But most of the time I just walk around in his hoodie, lol.

I have actually been surprised about being so down this last visit. Before I would be down for a few days and then get back into my routine, but this time the blues has lasted a ridiculously long time.

It's nice to see that things are going well for the most part for all of you!

 

Right now I'm waiting for a letter to come some time this (or next) week from the program I got accepted in in Spain. Then it's off to the consulate to apply for the student visa in the next state over, come home, go back to pick it up after 4-6 weeks (hopefully no longer than 6!), and by the end of October I should be settled in there!

 

I'll be 4 hours away from him, but I'm flying into his city and he says he wants to drive me to my destination. Road trip!!

 

ps totally just spent 2.5 hours napping and listening to him and his parents go about their day, along with random skype-y snuggles.

Too cute!! and yours too, CE and AG! I have a mini plush Wall-E and a beanie collie that both used to smell like him. We forgot to spray them with his cologne again before he left but it's okay 'cause I'll see him again soon. *squeal!*
