I would be careful about posting copyrighted lyrics. Tony just shut down a thread because of that a few days ago. Might be better just to post a link to the song

 

Unless you're trying to make a profit from it who cares? Does Tony think someone's going to sue LS for reprinting lyrics that are already public domain? I can imagine Bono or someone taking time out from their busy schedule to sick their lawyers on us, since ther's so much cash to be had.

I don't know the answer to your questions, all I know is he shut down a thread for people posting lyrics to songs

It's been going around that people are suing forums that post information like that. I guess if it's cited then it wouldn't matter, but better safe than sorry.

Only possibility is that lyric websites might sue, if the "lyrics thread" became so absurdly extensive that it threatened to circumvent their own domain. Reprinting a few lines from a song hardly fits into that category.

 

Edit: But you're right. Just post a link and quote the appropriate material.

yeah i know. it doesn't bother me but apparently that's what's been going on recently so i'm guessing that's why tony closed the last thread.

RE: Radiohead. I mentioned in one of my other posts, I went to a music festival with my ex (dumb idea I know) and one morning she put on a top that had "I Love Me" written on the front of it. I was a little taken aback by it, but I thought it did seem appropriate for the way she was acting. Anyway, what I didn't mention before was that I put on my Radiohead t-shirt in response to it. It just quotes one of the opening lines from 15 Steps...

 

"You used to be alright, what happened"

 

Quite a poignant opening to that song actually:

ha! Good come back with the shirt. I saw radiohead live at Hollywood bowl two summers ago, I nearly felt like I was goingto stet flying.. Hahaha iy was beautiful amazing dramatic n sweet..

Wow, caused a bit of a stir with that didn't I. I like the fact that my original post has since been quoted more than once though :p OK, no more song lyrics, but seriously I think we've all got other things to worry about. And that song is from an album that Radiohead released themselves via the internet, so there are no record company heavies that are gonna come knockin' down the door or telling LS they're gonna sue.

 

Thom Yorke may feel personally slighted by it, but I doubt it. he's not some sort of Paranoid Android Creep. I haven't left him High and Dry on Planet Telex Just by mentioning the Bones of one of his songs. I'm sure the Karma Police are all over this anyway, so I expect No Surprises from these boys, I'm not gonna find a Wolf at the Door or Weird Fishes in my bathtub. I'm very Optimistic that we've got Everything in Its Right Place, I Might be Wrong, but I don't think so. If I get anything threatening from Thom, I'll just say "oh yeah, You and Whose Army", and once we see the Knives Out and Thom says it's time to Prove Yourself, I'll cry "I Can't", Anyone Can Play Guitar, but not like you Thom, not like you my sweet rock god, I can't kill you, your music gives me The Bends and puts me In Limbo, even The National Anthem doesn't do that. You are my emotional Airbag, my teary Ripcord! If he pulls a gun I'm f*cked because I'm not Bullet Proof... Oh my God....any John Mayer songs make me think of my ex. My ex loves John Mayer. I can't listen to any of his songs w/o tearing up. I love all his songs, I really do. They are all so touching and speak to the heart. Hopefully someday I can listen to them again.

 

Thank you Skydiveaddict for the Nickleback song you posted on another thread. I just noticed it. It's a good one.:(

Dude! John Mayer songs KILL me! These are songs that are supposed to make us feel BETTER, not WORSE! Hahahahaha sorry my ex loves John Mayer and whenever I hear one of his songs I think of the a**hole. John Mayer is def. an incredible song writer, though. Too bad my ex had to ruin all his music for me. Someday, I'm sure I'll be able to appreciate his songs again.
