Synchronicity

Recommended Posts

Is it a coincidence? Spiritual? Or something that just happens and not to read into it.

You know those, " think of a person" you haven't talked to in a very long time and within a day or two you get a call from them or run into them, and you both say "OMG, I was just thinking of you!"

This seems to be happening with me alot recently. With friends, certain family members and situations.

you may be tapping into your energy really well right now... do you meditate?

when the channels of communication are extremely open (with equal amounts of giving and receiving) this is what i experience on a regular basis.

it feels like being in sync with life! things flow easily.

I don't meditate but I do yoga.. There is a certain mindset...

Yeah, I feel connected, but only with some people not others. The situation thing is freaky as it's like I "know" almost like a deja vu but slightly different.

Recently a friend called and I knew what it was going to be about. Freaked me out actually!

I think it is coincidence at most. Also, these times are noticeable and stand out but there are countless forgetten times when it DOESNT happen which is why you dont remember. You probably think about loads of other people but then DONT run into them but those times, despite being more frequent, dont stand out.

Just my opinion

I, for one do believe in synchronicity--I've had too many uncanny experiences, similar to what you've described, WWIU.

An interesting book that includes the concept is The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield.Synchronistic events begin happening at an accelerated pace in the main character's life, the more he meditates and starts tuning in......

It's a great read, fiction mixed with philosophy, and mysticism...the adventure story will keep you on the edge of seat.

fantastic album, I love the Police :love::love:

all kidding aside, something a friend recently said about being connected on an astral plane makes the whole coincidence thing make sense: That even if we aren't in contact with someone on this plane, it's easier to "connect" on an astral plane (we were talking about the Bible passage that alludes to lusting for someone in the heart; friend says that even though we physically may not be doing anything with said person, on the astral plane, those thoughts translate into actual mattress-dancing, so we had to be careful of our thoughts, that they are sinful for that reason) ....

interestingly enough, I'm not the only one I know who has experienced what you're talking about: Recently, my best friend from high school shot me an email, saying she'd heard a song that made her think of another friend of mine, and could I check on him because she had a bad feeling? So I texted him, and he breaks the news that he and his bride of 2 years were divorcing. The interesting thing is that my BFF only met my friend once or twice before, but the feeling was a very strong one for her to ask about him, that there was something wrong.

when the mind is free and clear from clutter it allows energy to flow freely - so much so that experiencing communication at a higher level becomes the norm when in this state. especially if the person is focused and can perceive the info being relayed without questioning it.

it also allows to "feel" energy given off by others that you may not be with at that time...

it allows easier interpretation of a person's written, spoken chosen words as well as noticing the slightest body language and what that may be telling you. the brain processes all the information on a higher plane... it is up to the individual to either act on it, or not. some may be noticing it but not processing it even if they notice. this is where clarity and an open mind helps.

we all have the capability - but don't always use it to our ability... but a clear mind with no altered substances definitely makes it seem easy.

The more I know and love a person, the more this happens. My dad for example.

Also I noticed that it often happens when I'm physically vital, calm and on a peaceful state of mind. I don't do yoga or meditate.

Ahh, so it IS possible to have a peaceful mind, feel calm without doing yoga or mediation.. How do you manage to accomplish that? Wish I could..

by clearing the mind of all the crap that used to make me feel resentful and having the actions that go along with removing those ill feelings - and making sure that each day stays clean as i trail through the day (no new resentments).

I eat right, breathe right, I sleep early and wake up at 05:30 the air is better at that time, its richer in oxygen, I exercise, and for the most part I'm a peaceful person. I pray 5 times a day, that has effects similar to yoga I guess.

coincidences happen to me all the time and other things that just seem weird that are connected. as if there really is a fate.

several years ago before i gave up meat, i realized that i liked steaks. i got this catalogue of catalogues thing in the mail and signed up for a free catalogue from the OMAHA steak company. never got any steaks from them though.

on the very long move from minnesota to utah last year the only city that i liked was OMAHA, because everything else was the same for a long time. and we even stopped there to sleep for like two or three hours before heading to utah.

while i was still here in utah, my girlfriend had to go with her family back to minnesota because of two graduations in her family. she was gone for four months, and i found out in an email that she was staying with some guy in OMAHA that she said was just a friend, but later i found out she cheated on me with him.

OMAHA

and there have been plenty of times when i have the tv on and i hear a word that exactly coincides with a word i am reading at that exact second in a book.

sure seems like there is a plan to this life...

Synchronicity is a fancy word for coincidence. Human brains are very good at recognizing patterns. It's the reason you can recognize the subtle differences in faces. You have every right to place too much faith in such things, but you are only diluting your reality. There are more important things you could be using your time thinking about.

of course somebody had to say that... I do not believe in coincidences though, the world is full of signs that point to stuff and if we treat these signs as coincidences we'll never get to see what they are pointing at, for example the movement of the electrons around the nucleus, planets around the sun, the solar system around the galactic center... All these are a synchronicity not a coincidence, each leads to the other.

I think you're my new favourite poster! ;) I like the way you think and express yourself. Look forward to reading some of your threads now. Thanks so much for your input. What you say makes alot of sense.

Very true! I believe some things in life happen for a reason, certain people are meant to come into our lives as well. Even if it's a conversation with a stranger in a store, timing is everything! I remember talking to a woman, a complete stranger, who just clicked with. She was someone I felt I could open up to, so we talked, and it turned out she did a spiritual walk and her whole life changed. Freaky thing? xx amount of years later I saw her selling her spiritual book at a farmers market nearby and she remembered me!

I learned from her, one long conversation with her had a huge impact in my life at that time, it helped me do a change that was necessary, somehow talking to her gave me the confidence and encouragement I needed.

There seems to be a misunderstanding of the definition of synchronicity.

coincidence in time; contemporaneousness; simultaneousness.

The planets are in no way an example of a set of simultaneous events.

A proper example would be, if you were reading a book with the TV on, and you read a word as someone spoke the word on the TV.

Or if you want a more "mysterious" example. Maybe you thought about a person just as the phone rings. It's them! Sweet evil Jesus! You MUST be psychic! There is no other possible explanation in the entire world.

I had to say that because the words are synonyms. It wasn't much of a reach.

Also, the relationship between electrons and planets is completely flawed. Planets move around stars in elliptical, and predictable patterns. Elections move around nuclei in nearly random arrangements.

As far as celestial bodies, it's like saying that it's a coincidence that everything is effected by gravity. That's what orbits are. Things are falling toward each other in.

I guess I believe in some form of low-level ESP that works about as well as a radio station at the outer limits of it's broadcast range. Sometimes it's pretty clear, most often it's not. But there have been too many odd things in my life to just write the idea off all together.

What comes immediately to mind is the urge I had to call up a previous neighbor to see how he was doing. It'd been a couple of years and I had no idea what if anything was going on in his life. Turned out he was in a pretty bad place and was happy as hell to have a chance to talk it through with someone. I can't bring myself to believe that was merely happenstance.

Oh, yes. And I certainly don't want anyone to think that I'm not ok with alternate beliefs. I just happen to think that people are wasting their time/energy and making poor decisions based on faulty logic. And that makes me sad. My defense mechanism is a tendency to mock the ideas (not the people).

On the other hand, it these beliefs make you feel good about something, I can not blame you. I just wish people would take credit for their own awesome good will. For instance...

Rather than think that some mystical force created this positive situation. I wish you would realize that it was your good will to find this person. Your interest in another human beings good will was enough to motivate you to reach out and it was beneficial. It could have easily turned out that dude was fine and didn't really want to talk to you, but we tend not to count the "misses" in these situations. The "hits" end up looking exceptional.

In reality, the "hits" and "misses" are usually random. It's the motivating factors, our humanity, which is the significant aspect to these emotional synchronicities. I wish people would take modest credit.

I think otherwise, most people are willing to accept my previous examples of random coincidence.

What a coincidence. :D

I just returned a book to the library. It was Synchronicity, by Jung. I never got around to reading it, though.

The book looked intriguing, as I leafed through it. I'm not a psychologist or anything like that, and it seemed pretty readable to me.

It's an interesting concept as I understand it, but I'd like to read more about it before making up my mind.
