AprilShowers
hello, i have had a lot of stress lately. as a result, i have gained about 30 lbs in 3 months so i am almost 160 lbs at 5'7.5". My build is very slim, but i tend to gain a lot of weight in my ab region, so I look about 6 months pregnant. I cant afford the gym and I was wondering if you guys could offer any advice to a girl on exercise. I was thinking of walking, I figure I could burn the pounds in 3 months, maybe before. Just share what things are helpful, how to stay motivated, etc. Thanks. I know I am very dis proportioned because like I stated, my build is slim, but I have a lot of fat in my ab and thigh area. Rorschach
My gym is only 10 bucks a month, so there are some pretty cheap gyms out there. But anyway running is good free exercise, swimming is good exercise. But more important than exercise is your diet, go on the internet and check out a couple different height and weight charts to find out how many calories you should be taking in (I say a couple because they all give different answers) and start watching what you eat like a hawk. Losing weight is 90% diet and 10% exercise. Now making sure you look 'fit' as opposed to just 'thin' is 90% exercise and 10% diet. But if your goal is to just lose 30 pounds start with diet and work from there. Also sorry to be the bearer of bad news but to lose 30 pounds is more likely going to take 5-6 months, not 3 or less, losing weight is a serious dedication of time, it won't happen quickly. Also whatever you do in your diet to lose weight, make sure it is something you can do for the rest of your life, if you go on a diet for 6 months, then go back to the way you eat now you'll just gain all the weight back. Diet's aren't temporary, it's just a word that means a permanent change in eating habits. Oh and I've lost 80 pounds in 9 months so I have a bit of experience in this

Els
I'm disillusioned by losing weight through exercise, tbh. I'm not exactly overweight, so fitness is the main purpose of any exercise I do, but damn. 6 months ago, I was 5'1" and 115 lbs, and I lived a COMPLETELY sedentary lifestyle. I hated the tropical weather I lived in and even walking a block made me sweat buckets, so I stayed in the air conditioning most of the time. Ever since moving to another country, I've been walking a significant amount. I walk at least 2 km a day on average, often more. Usually I brisk walk the entire kilometre, and I can feel myself going out of breath a lot less than I used to. But I still weigh 115 lbs. Diet has remained largely the same. I'm not too bothered because as I said, fitness was my main target, but still... I'm not sure all the exercise-and-you'll-get-thinner mantra is all that accurate. Unless by 'exercise' they mean really intense boot-camp stuff for 3 hours a day or something.
