In_Repair
I haven't been able to squat in a decade. It's one of those exercises that feels soooo good to max out on, like dead lifts. I was born with a screwed up bone structure in one of my ankles that only allowed limited movement, and then I cracked it throwing a leg kick... done. You think squatting in a belt and knee braces sucks? Try doing it with a damn ankle brace. There is nothing like feeling off balance with several hundred pounds on your shoulders... Yeah, I can see how if your ankle mobility is jacked up that squatting would pretty much be out of the question.

Yep, I can safely use more weight with my upper body than my lower. Thank god, you would never know that I have the messed up ankle, unless you caught me limping around slightly after a workout or being on my feet all day. One trip to the squat rack though, will have me limping for days. Then there are the times where, when overloaded, it just gives out unexpectedly and I drop to the floor... Not the love ace
Ronnie Coleman said it himself I had a hard time finding the quote but he says something along the lines of that he uses support equipment such as the belt and others because that's what its meant for and its helped him get wheres he's at and if you have it, to utilize it because its not going to do any harm. I agree with him, though I don't really use too much equipment myself.
