timewilltell
Long story short my fiance broke up with me in July '03 after a 2 year relationship, said she didn't "feel it" any more. I was the typical heartbroken guy, anyway did the whole no contact thing, didn't talk or see her since October. She called me up last month to wish me happy birthday and to see how I was, and chit chat a little, our conversation ended shortly though, because she had to go somewhere and it ended with a "take care." Since the breakup I've been with other women, and have dated, but nothing serious. Now, since the phone call I've got my ex in my head again. It's been three weeks since the phone call and I've been debating whether to call her up and see if she wants to have coffee/lunch. It's been five months since I've seen her, and she made the first move by calling, albeit it was my birthday. I care about this person deeply, I'm not sure if I would want another intimate relationship with her, but would like to be closer as friends. Do you think I should contact her, or just let it go....... P.S. we're both in our mid-twenties in case you're wondering

If you honestly think you don't want to ever pursue a relationship, but just want to be friends--go for it. It's my guess that's a concession, and it will hinder your recovery, but I'll go ahead and give you the benefit of the doubt for you to assess your own attachment to her.
