Why is this girl so rude to me?

Back drop: I go to College and I'm 21 years old

 

In this class I have with her, I've noticed from Day 1 that she shunned me away after I made a helpful gesture to a friend that was in a group she was in. I was speaking directly to him when she took authority and replied for him and it's the way she went by it that hit a nerve with me. She answered in a brushing manner and turned her back towards me completely and then there was a moment of silence. SILENCE. As in those in the same class who were waiting to get into the room had noticed this girl answer me in a way that was plainly rude.

 

I thought better of the situation and said whatever, brushed it off because I didn't want to linger on negativity. It doesn't get you nowhere. Anyways, a couple class periods go by, I start to notice a bit of tension in her and it was kind of hard not to think about it since it always bothers me when someone has this animosity towards me and I have no idea why. Then TODAY happens....

 

There's this other girl in my class who I talk to-to pass the time and she's really nice to me. So, everytime we get inside the classroom we sit next to each other. On this particular day she sat to my left and when I saw the person I was to sit next to on my right side, well, it was the girl whom had been rude to me first day. I thought better of the situation but it was nagging me that she was sitting next to me for some odd reason. I let the feeling go eventually and got comfortable. However, as class progressed I got more interested at the topic at hand and was asking questions to the teacher when at every moment I did this the girl I labeled as rude kept answering them. So I began to think "okay, she's giving valid answers, she doesn't seem to be bugged by me or anything so this is good". And I shook my head in agreement to what she was saying but it was when the teacher spoke that I really grasped the concept at hand.

 

Immediately when class ended I turned to the girl I normally speak to and told her that I needed to go over with the professors exactly what work I had to hand in, since we all have unique assignments in the class. And literally as soon as I finished the last word to her the rude girl spoke up and said to me "I asked the teacher that same question. You should've listened." Pause. She doesn't say anything else. I firmly looked at her and thought to myself I'm not going to let those words affect me. So I ask her to tell me then how I'm supposed to do my assignment. And she willingly tells me and I genuinely appreciated it so afterwards I thanked her by saying "Thank you very much" and I meant it, I said it with no added flavors of bitterness or sassyness. I was damn genuine. And the best part is, she looks at me, pauses, and rather quickly says "Yea." Then she goes her own way.

 

Am I doing something wrong? Am I looking at it wrong? But if I'm not, then what the heck is going on? B/c honestly to me it would seem she doesn't like me. And trust me, I haven't said or done enough of anything in that class period for her to start judging me. I'm only beginning to believe completely that she doesn't like me and is rude for the way she's acting towards me.

 

I'd really like to know what you all think.

Don't worry about girls like that! She's probably just jealous of you. I don't see any other reason why she'd act like that to someone who she doesn't even know.
