Powders are a pain in the ass and in my opinion bring on a bulky unatural look. They work but are not worth it and require you to keep taking the protien to maintain it. You'll loose the extra muscle in as little as 5 months if you stop taking the protien... so do u realy want a life of protien powder?

Whaaaa???? Can you please explain the biological process through which the body treats protein from powder differently than from, say, milk?

Personaly I find powders messy and pointless (if you are going for a natural look).

Powders are messy and a pain in the ass...? Really...? I fill a shaker bottle with ice, pour two scoops into said bottle, and fill with water. I put the lid on it, shake shake shake, and I'm done...20 seconds at most...and what mess...? Please enlighten me as to a similar quality protein source that is as easy, painless, and clean as that...?

And you incorrectly associate protein shakes with those who weight train...and you only lose the muscle if you stop training...if simply drinking protein shakes made me muscular, I'd be the first one to quit my membership at the gym...

I don't know the biological process but when I take protein and work out I see a lot of unusal muscle gain in as little as 3-4 months. Plus I was usualy mixing my protein with MILK as opposed to water.

I just don't like them.

And I don't asociate them with weight training as I know a grandmother who pours protein shake powders into her breakfast every morning.

I would suggest reconsidering high intake of egg yolk. New science has suggested that lysosome can negatively effect the lining of the small intestine. This would be especially problematic for anyone suffering from Celiac, Crohn's, and possibly a number of other autoimmune diseases. It has been suggested that many many more people suffer these same complications with the intestines but are asymptomatic and therefore go undiagnosed.

Not all proteins are equal, in fact proteins are the greatest dietary variable. Some are edible. Some are quickly digested, some slow. Some are pure poison. Some are inhibitors of normal metabolism. I'm not currently up on my knowledge of whey protein. I need to do this.

The greatest source of protein's are likely to come from a variety of meat.

Fair enough.

I once tried sprinkling some dry protein powder onto my cereal (I eat cereal dry) when I first started using it, thinking it would be like sprinkling powdered sugar on it or something...huge mistake...that might have been one of the most miserable food experiences of my life...

My vote is for chicken eggs...they may just be the "perfect" food...

Ah, but like I said, there is some evidence that lysosome can negatively effect the epithelial cells of the small intestine.

Lysosome is an aggressive protein found in the egg white with the purpose of protecting the egg from bacterial, perhaps fungal infection.

Not many foods could be truly perfect. They were not designed for us in mind. They have their defense mechanisms.

Also, keep in mind the diet of the hen that lays the egg. A hen with a diet which includes insects rather than just industrial "feed" is likely to have better fat ratios.

And in 2 years they'll have evidence suggesting otherwise. 2 years after that eggs will be bad for you again.

Honestly I'm not sure how people can take any of those nutrition studies seriously anymore, they double guess themselves more than meteorologists.

The difference is that eggs were once thought to increase bad cholesterol and have too much saturated fat.

Yes the consensus about the relevance of these is hotly debated still. Recent studies have suggested that saturated fat is not the culprit for cardiovascular diseases, but it was high glycemic foods like grains and potatoes all along. So yes, it is a back and forth on these issues.

The lysosome issue is very straight forward. Does the protein negatively effect the the epithelial cells? It does in vitro. Clinical studies would need to be done to determine the effects on humans in real life. I would suggest that anyone with intestinal issues should certainly be aware.

They make sense if you read through them properly. The basics of nutrition eat fruits and vegatables ect... are pretty sound

I'm not even a vegetarian - But I would think we can't loose by eating vegetables, legumes, grains, fruit - which is what God has given us.

I believe anything with a heart that must suffer when slaughtered/killed would come back to haunt us, and rightfully so.. thus cancer, heart disease.

And animals/fowl that must be kept with hormones or whatever to produce milk and eggs .. that would be unnatural as well..

Vegetables and fruits, yes! Grains and legumes, no way! I don't know your specific beliefs, so you may not accept an evolutionary model of nutrition.

But in a nut shell:

We once lived without the control of fire. We did so by eating nothing but meat, fruits and vegetables. Something like 100,000 years ago, we started using fire for warmth. We started cooking meat because it tastes better. There is a possiblility that we learned how to cook most of the poisonous lectins out of beans and tubers. But you can't cook them all out. These NEW sources of calories are something that was never eaten before and our digestive systems have not completely evolved to handle them. Grains were not cultivated and eaten until about 10,000 years ago. Processing is required in order to get any nutritional value out of them at all. As an example, gluten is a very well documented metabolism inhibitor.

If you have to consider this in a Genesis template. The Garden of Eden could be considered a Hunter/Gatherer sort of situation. And the Tree of Knowledge is a metaphor for agriculture.

"Which makes the inedible, edible", in an alternate translation of the original Hebrew.
