Dream Interpretation

Recommended Posts

Okay so I had a really strange dream the other night, and I've always been curious as to dream interpretation, so here it goes....

I was on a train going somewhere (I didn't know where the train was going) and instinctively knew there was a man on the same train (who in real life, was someone that I dated over 2 years ago).

In the dream, I didn't look for him on the train, I just knew he was on it somewhere.

When the train stopped, I got off and started walking away. As I was leaving, he popped out in front of me. I immediately felt a rush of warmth come over me, and I slowly went to pull him closer and we ended up just standing there holding each other really tightly. He said he had been thinking of me, and really wanted to make love, but I declined because I knew that wouldn't have been a wise choice. So I just shook my head and began to walk away.

As I was walking away, he ran up to me and gently grabbed my arm. He asked me if he could see me the next day, and of course I said yes.

The next day we spent the entire day together. We had a picnic in the park, and just lied there on the blanket, catching up and having a nice time. Then I told him I had to get going, and as he was walking me back, I turned around and we began kissing. Our kissing started off slowly and then gradually we just pulled each other into ourselves and began holding each other extremely tightly, and kissed each other very hard and very deeply. Then, we made love, and it was wonderful.

A few minutes later, I woke up. The last thing I recalled from the dream when I woke up, was his face and how I missed seeing it. I started sobbing but was able to pull myself together, acknowledging that it was only a dream, and sometimes dreams can do that.

Has anyone had similar dreams and what meaning did you take away from it?

I don't believe that the emotions you experience after (or even during for that matter) really have much to do with the actual meaning of a dream. I'm a huge dream person, mostly because I remember the majority of my dreams. I'm definitely not an expert by any means, but have had many similar dreams to this one.

If you re-read your dream, you are usually able to piece it all together. I will try doing so, not knowing much about your relationship with this man.

The train, and you not knowing where you were going, is a huge symbol. Think of the train as your life during that period. Maybe you weren't exactly sure where you were going in life, you were sort of just cruising along, aware of the people around you but not really paying much mind to them.

You get off the train (a pivotal moment in your life), and take notice of this man. At first, you were weary, unsure of allowing him into your life. Even through his advances, you wanted to keep moving forward. Finally, you allowed him in. And this was a wonderful experience for you.

Sometimes dreams are just recollections of past experiences. Sometimes, they don't mean much except to remind you of the things you've been through. I know the 'after-emotions' all too well. I just had a dream the other day that left me feeling miserable all day. Those emotions are sometimes very hard to overcome. They are so incredibly intense.

I don't think you should perceive this dream as someone that you miss, but coming to understand the exact process you went through during that time in your life.

Just my two cents :)

That is very insightful E, I hadn't really looked at it that way. Everything is a journey really, life that is. I think the part of the dream when I knew he was on the train with me, but I did not go looking for him, represents in real life when we dated and I asked him where things were going, and he said he did not know and did not see me/us, as part of the future. So, it would make sense for me to keep going without him on my journey.

Wuggle, yes, there was no doubt about it. Like I said, I woke up from my dream into a conscious state so I think the feelings I had from it were expected.

The deep and mysterious meaning of the dream seems to be that you're due for some romance. When it comes to dreams the only dream better than this kind of romance is the rare "lucid" dream where there's a time between dreaming and waking where you can continue the dream and perhaps nudge it in a direction you'd like. I wish this happened more often to me--it has only happened a handful of times I can remember.

The most recent was about 2 years ago. I had a momentous encounter with a girl of olive complexion and curly black hair in the dream after a big life-threatening drama with evil migets in tiny taxis. I perceived myself starting to wake up just as I was to get my rewards for saving her and some part of me begged the "dream guys" to let me have a few more minutes with her PLEASE. I remember hearing a guy saying "hey, can you open up the female module a little longer for this guy?" and another voice saying "ok, we can do that". I was able to direct the dream from there for a short while and, needless to say, went to town on her. :)

Things or people that we really liked come back in dreams. I had one this morning where all I can remember is watching a video of the people at my old job on Wall Street and someone announced that I had moved on. This girl I just loved started crying when she heard I had gone. I started cying too. I had danced with her several times--once alone at a party when everyone else was late--and she was the prestige beauty around. I think we might have had something. But she smoked too much. I just wouldn't have that. I don't think there are any metaphors for this dream, just someone I once adored was revealed to have had intense emotion for me and I wish I could have known that sooner. Thankfully there were no ciragarettes in the dream. She was so effen beautiful.

A few months after a long-time GF dumped me, while I was out of state unemployed searching for work, I dreamed I talked to her as she was sitting on a swing.

The only problem was her new BF/fiance was alongside her, which really turned me off.
