stablesong
Hey! Haven't posted on here in quite a long time, but I've encountered quite the crisis in the last few days and don't know where else to turn really. I feel like I'm back at square one. My ex and I broke up about a year and a half ago. She moved to another country, we tried to make it work whilst we arranged for one of us to move to the other but she cheated and we broke up. Took it very hard, was depressed for months and we didn't speak to each other for over a year Started casually e-mailing a few months ago, which was fine - water under the bridge and all - and I'd moved on and we'd both been through other relationships in the mean time. I moved out to Vancouver a month ago as well and have been feeling happier than ever. She randomly suggested we chat on the phone for the first time since the break-up a few days ago, I complied, and, basically, hearing her voice has unearthed these old feelings and sent me soaring. We were talking about the old days fondly, and she was apologetic about the things she did. She's not being malicious or anything, and we're both in very stable separate environments, but I just can't get her off my mind now and I feel like I did when we first broke up. I thought I was completely over it - I hope this is just a blip. Any words of wisdom? I'm usually happy to dish it out, but I'm finding it hard to keep myself up at the moment. Cheers. DustySaltus
I think she was carrying around some guilt and was looking for you to let her off the hook, which you did. Something happened to her and she is reaching out to make sure you're not mad at her anymore, because she's not happy with herself....that's how i've seen it from experience. Experience talks, eh? Tell her it's done. and so are you. Seriously, think about it. She cheated. You moved on. What good will come from talking to her? I'll tell you: none. Look backward when moving forward is a no-no.
Author stablesong
Cheers guys. I was hoping that after a year and a half I'd be past my feelings for her, but I guess it takes as long as it takes, right?
Perhaps
Cheers guys. I was hoping that after a year and a half I'd be past my feelings for her, but I guess it takes as long as it takes, right? It's like this. Imagine your relationship with your ex as a corpse. Which is buried. Digging to see how much it has decayed will result in nothing. It'll only make you think. The whole point of NC is that you don't have to think about it. But yeah, never take that chance.. it can take a day or years.. the best is to not find out Avoid it. Besides, you're living a new life!
