classof2014
It seems like most women these days want a tall and strong guy, but at the same time, someone that is stupid so the woman can control him and make him do things for her. Do you agree with this? Also, of the following two guys, who would you take? Guy 1 1. 5'10 in. tall. 2. Triathlete body but also very muscular (300 IB bench press) 3. good facial features 4. successful and very smart (speaks 3 languages) 5. enjoys outdoor activities, learning about new cultures, tai chi, martial arts, and building up his already succesful business. Guy 2 1. about 6 ft. tall 2. all muscle (bench press of around 450 Ibs) but has no athletic talent except being VERY strong 3. works as a personal trainer at a gym 4. hobbies include beer pong, partying, going to bars, and yelling at the football game on the TV while drunk. 5. good facial features. Guy 1 sounds great, so long as he isn't egotistical. High intelligence is a big turn on for me. I am pretty intelligent, and most men I have met in the past are less intelligent then me (well most people of both sexes). Being less intelligent then me is a big turn off. I like really stimulating conversations about ideas, not day to day stuff, and not just rehashing an idea someone else had to sound smart, but you haven't really thought about it. I like real intelligence.
loverofloveandstuff
I think people are attracted to people who are over a similar intelligence level to themselves. And whilst, I really admire anybody who I see to be smart, that doesn't mean I would want to be with them over someone who is say, less intelligent. For me, you haven't mentioned the characteristics and qualities I really want to know about in guy 1 and guy 2. I want to know about their general attitude towards life, and people. The most attractive quality to me, is a man who is open minded and can relate to people of all walks of life. I love people, who love people. I love a man who can work a room full of people and is thoughtful enough to remember everyone's name. I believe this requires a basic level of intelligence, but it is more about being socially intelligent rather than booksmart. I want to know if they are egotistical about their good looks/smarts. I want to know what their general attitude towards life is. These are the things that are important to me.

Honestly, I'd like the man who I could have the most fun with. See, I could speak 3 languages, start a business eventually, and learn martial arts by myself and have fun. I couldn't go to bars, yell at the tv, and play beer pong by myself and have fun. Physically, 5'10 and 6'0 wouldn't really make a difference to me since I'm a little over 5'4. I like a man who's has a healthy weight range and doesn't smoke and isn't a druggy. Also, good facial features are a MUST for me, since I always fall for a pretty face. The last guy I really was attracted to was about 5'6, had a great job and always paid whenever we went out, was a total ditz and and was a certified beer pong playing bro. He was also overweight but he has beautiful skin and his facial features really grew on me. He had BEAUTIFUL eyes! He was a programmer which I find to be an honorable profession that takes mental skill. Sometimes he would leave the house with his shoes on the wrong foot and would park his car in areas that didn't make any sense (he got his car towed like 6 times in on month). I've also seen him walk around his house for no reason and run into the doorway by accident. People around him called him dumb, but he was very likable and his very close friends knew that he was smart. I'm certainly not stating my preference for guys that lack a few marbles. However, if it's between a super-educated man who takes himself and everything seriously and is mad if I'm five minutes late (done that) or a goofball who likes to smile with me and have fun even if he wears the occasional dunce cap, I'll take the latter. If I feel stupid, I'll read a book when I get home.
Mitupid
Depends on his personality. If no. 1 enjoys putting people down or make sarcastic remarks all the time about how he is smarter than the rest, then sorry, that is not attractive. If he is humble and intelligent, then yes, that is very attractive to me. As for stupid, depends on how stupid is he. Does he keep up with some current affairs etc.?

machiavellian
Guy 1 sounds like my BF. 1. 5'8 in. tall. 2. Triathlete body but also very muscular (300 LB bench press) 3. good facial features 4. successful and very smart (speaks 3 languages) 5. enjoys outdoor activities, learning about new cultures, tai chi, martial arts, and building up his already succesful business. Guy 2 sounds like a guy I made out with once because, being young and stupid, it seemed like a good idea to date a guy all the other girls wanted, but couldn't stand how dumb he was, or his lack of personality. 1. about 6 ft. tall 2. all muscle (bench press of around 450 Ibs), very talented in hockey 3. lives at home and Mom and Dad pay all the bills 4. hobbies include beer pong, partying, going to bars, and yelling at the hockey/baseball game on the TV while drunk. 5. good facial features. Knittress
I <3 nerds. Both of these options sound physically attractive and you haven't really addressed anything I care about in a partner. Such as: -Is he kind? -Is he honorable? -Is he fun? -Do we enjoy each other? These are things that are WAY more important than an inch or two of height and the degree of muscle definition. Seriously guys. SERIOUSLY.
Tim The Enchanter
It seems the defining quality of these two individuals is how much they can bench press.

Stung
Assuming he also has a good personality that clicks with mine, Guy 1 is an idealized man--what on earth would I want the uncultured meathead for? I have always preferred intelligent men, and the company of intelligent people, in general. I have generally found that like seeks like, so it's possible that if all the women you are surrounded by are gravitating towards stupid, that that also says something about you. My husband is extremely intelligent, and it's one of the things that attracted me to him in the first place. The same can be said of the vast majority of my exes.

OliveOyl
Guy #2 actually sounds like more fun. I don't care how many languages someone speaks, but they do have to speak (and type) English *well*. Intelligence is very important to me, but a specific type of intelligence. Not the type where someone is a what I call a "walking Wiki." That doesn't appeal to me. Guy #1 sounds like he might be too busy for a real relationship. If he's actually a tri-athlete AND building up a business. To be very honest, he sounds out of my league. The 2-inch difference in height makes absolutely no difference to me. xpaperxcutx
I don't see how either of the two options have anything to do with intelligence. Your post reeks of your bias towards women. That said, if you were either, I still wouldn't date you.
Template
The fallacy of your two choices, is that physcially they are good looking guys, so it really doesn't matter. But let me be specific. - If you ask a woman to pick from two good looking stranger men, visual preferences would rule their decision. How would a woman know whether one is intelligent over the other? She would have to get to know them, and if both of them are attractive, most women would go with the intelligent man, as then looks differential is so small it doesn't matter. Now ask this. Guy 1 - Looks like professor Klump - Nobel Prize winner - Bench presses cheeseburgers - Cares about environment Guy 2 - Looks like Brad Pitt - IQ of a Canolli - Bench presses 350 lbs. - Cares about his Ferrari Now is the attraction to intelligence going to rule all? Unfortunately, (while I don't know all the women in the world), most women I've known, and spoken to will choose Guy 2 as their heavy favorite.
