My girlfriend is in need of my support, and i know she deserves it. I just dont know how to give it to her. I love her from the bottom of my heart and really want to figure this out. Does anyone have any ideas about how to give her support, to show her that I care about her and that she can turn to me when she needs me? As it is now, she doesnt trust me with her feelings because she doesnt want to be let down when i can think of a way to be spportive.

HELP!!!

We need specifics, I gathered from context that she doesn't need your help in selecting a bra, but that's as far as I got.

i listen to her all the time. She gets mad at me, though, when i can't say the right thing to calm her down or make her feel better, or show her that i care about her. I can't seem to show her that i'm with her and on her side.

YOu can only reply as the person you are. If she demands you to be someone you are not I would get rid of her.

It is not your DUTY to support her the way SHE wants it is your ability to give support when and how you see fit.

I think you should tell her what you said here...that you care for her and want to show your support, but you don't know how. All you can do is try your best, and she should respect that.

Things to avoid saying...

"You should just do this ----"

"You didn't say anything?!"

"Do you want me to talk to so-and-so?"

"I never had that problem"

"Please don't cry"

"I can't help you there."

"I don't understand what the problem is"

"Whoa! Calm down! You are hysterical!"

"I've got something in the garage that needs fixing, umm...I'll come back later..."

"Well, look at it from so-and-so's point of view..."

"What I would do to solve the problem is this..."

A sympathetic hug, reassurance that she's doing the best in dealing with the situation, are my prescriptions.
