why can't I have normal knowledge of life?

Recommended Posts

Well, I have only recently joined Loveshack and from his comments on this thread he seems kinda lost and worries too much about measuring up to other peoples' standards and perceptions.

That may be, and if that's the case, I very much hope, jean-luc, that you find your way. I'm just warning you, Truthseeker, to prepare yourself for an incredible amount of frustration as you try to help.

Jean-luc, we are all much the same yet at the same time are different. Don't try to measure up to others, just be yourself. You are OK, OK?

what does that mean?

What do you think is normal knowledge? The meaning of life (and of everything that exists) is positive communication. If you do that, you will be OK. :)

Normal human knowledge of everyday life.

Just take a look at other threads jean-luc has started--he has a thing for seeing how long he can keep people talking, while he dodges their questions. (quite masterfully, I must say) :)

Be yourself is common knowledge.

I have your answer. From now on, carefully follow and study all of my posts. Then you will have the entirety of human knowledge. Everyday life included.

Hahaha, this is good advice. It has worked for me.

;):p

So, OP: I'm going to venture that you are not serious.

LOL, but assuming you are: I suppose if you want to be reductionistic, there is no "common knowledge" except, perhaps, the "cogito ergo sum," yet no one can validate whether this is actually common knowledge, or just my own. However, the very fact that you are perceiving and reading this thread, that you were able to formulate a phrase/concern (however ineffective the formulation may have been), etc. proves that you have "common knowledge," if you are understanding it to be a kind of perception and self-awareness that everyone has. Honestly, the term is a little vague, but if I'm understanding you correctly, you really do already possess it, which is proven in the very asking of the question i.e. when you don't know something, or you need help aquiring some trait, in this case "common sense," for example, common sense tells us to ask others who may have the answer, which you have done. Thus, by asking the question, you have already negated your claim that you do not possess common sense.

ok, i agree. you do not have the common knowledge required to post specific examples and understand that these are required to make any deductive conclusions about your plight.

good luck, man. i wish you practical experience beyond abstraction.

I disagree when you say things are not common knowledge. You cannot prove this.

You are a funny man.

;)

Exactly! Truthseeker didn't believe me! :)

I do like the idea of defining "common knowledge," however. For me, I know how to feed and clothe myself each day. I know how to get myself where I need to go each day. I know that when someone says "hello" to me I'm supposed to say "hello" back. I know how that it's a good thing to help someone pick up something they've dropped or share my cookie with them (because I might need half a cookie someday). I know not to run with scissors, touch hot stove burners, run into traffic, or drive on the wrong side of the road. And I know if someone or something is trying to kill me, run!

That's enough common knowledge to get me through life. If it's not enough for someone else, they'll have to define it for themselves. If they're unable to do that, they're trying WAY too hard. :)

I want the same wisdom and common sense that everybody else by default. This is the common knowledge and sayings of life.

IF it were common - everyone would have it - but they don't. when you have it - you don't wonder.

experiencing MANY diverse situations in life help to obtain what you are asking about. your reaction - or lack of - is what shows whether or not you have good balance to situations that are out of your control.

I disagree. Everybody has it by default.

You contradict yourself. By your own argument, you say everybody has common knowledge by default. If that is true, then all humans have common knowledge by default.

Are you human? I will accept only "Yes" or "No" as an answer, as they are the only two possible answers to the question.

Say "yes," and you are human and therefore already possess the common knowledge that "everyone" has.

Say "no" and you are an alien or some species other than human with a computer, the Internet, and opposable thumbs--in which case, you have no need of common knowledge.

:lmao:

Hahahaha, I don't know why, but this thread is one of the funniest I've come across. I think Jean-Luc has a really subtle and bizarre wit.

According to Bob Proctor, there are 11 Laws that can ultimately guide you to a life of great success. I am usually very sceptical about a lot of these motivational speakers and authors... but Bob seems to know what he is talking about it most of the time...

I thought id share this with you because this guy has some very interesting perspectives on attraction of success.

I hope this helps you as much as it is helping me.

That's not true. People on this board are so depressing and fatalistic. Did somebody hurt you long ago, so you have to bring everybody else down? Perhaps you should desist from offering advice, if it's only out of vengeance, resentment or spite.

Huh?

I didn't get that from the comment you quoted.

I think he's just trying to understand what you mean by "common knowledge."

Are you trying to bring joy into our depressed and fatalistic lives with your troll posts?

Cause it's working for me!

I was locked in a basement until I was 10, fed only tuna and Cheez-Its. But still I tell everyone that if only they follow their hearts, their dreams will come true! They can learn from my example: Now that I'm out, I can eat tuna, Cheez-Its, AND peanut butter. Heaven!

I must be really screwed up. :D

Don't take offense Truthseeker--he's just messing with you!
