Are Women With Long Hair Sexier?

Ladies, your hair says something about your life. If someone has never met you before and knows nothing about your past, your hair is your best testament. It's an honest record of the food you've eaten, the drugs you've taken, the seasons you've weathered, the stresses and sickness you've endured, and the grooming you've given it. Because scalp hair grows on average a half inch every two months, a shimmering mane that swishes below your shoulders advertises at least four years of good health and diet. You couldn't fake that in ancestral times. Our brains subconsciously process the sight of long, vibrant hair as a cue of youth and vitality.

The height and quality of your hair may also reveal whether you've had a child. Hormonal changes in the aftermath of pregnancy may permanently affect a mother's hair, making it shed copiously and turn sparser, coarser, and more brittle — a reason why many new moms get haircuts. In a study of two hundred surburban American women, older ladies and married women with children had much shorter hair of significantly poorer quality, whereas single women without children had longer, more luxuriant tresses. Intrestingly, women of all ages who reported health complications that prevented them from having children also had shorter, thinner, weaker hair. Similar results were found in an Hungarian study that compared the effects of various hairstyles (short, medium-length, long, discheveled, knot, bun, etc.) and health and attractiveness.

Hair is also important to MALE attractiveness. While a hairless head is considered sexy on a few exceptional men, women generally are not in favor of bald men. In a study at Barry University in Florida, judges of both genders associated balding guys as those with greater social maturity, wisdom, nurturance, and age — NOT good looks. In fact, bald and balding men had NEGATIVE sex appeal. Likewise, a Korean study with nearly two hundred judges of both genders found that bald and/or balding men were perceived as older, less attractive, and less potent than guys with full head of hair.

Lastly, there may another benefit to having long hair: it broadcasts scent. Hair contains small amounts of fat, and fat absorbs oders easily, which is why your hair retains the scent of shampoo, cigarette smoke — and yourself. Pheromones may emanate from glands that lie at the base of hair frollicles, and have an unconscious effect on others. Flirtatious women release their scent in the air by caressing, stroking, and twirling their locks, or whipping them around.

To answer this question, I think women with longer hair are sexier. For one thing, I do have long, blond hair, so it shouldn't come as any surprise that I think long hair is sexier. So many shampoo commercials show women with long hair to advertise their products. And I love to pet it and have a strong men pet my hair for me after making love. So comforting.

Yes, definitely so.

Obviously it depends on the man.

But the general consensus is that long hair is more attractive than short. Long hair is a defining female characteristic. Yes I know that some men have long hair, and they get mistaken for women :p

Considering 2/3 of men will thin or bald in their lifetime I don't think it has the negative stigma from women that your article suggests.

I do not find long hair on women any sexier than women with another length.

Depends on the women not just her hair.

yes i would say so; at least in that initial glance. must be the biological thing you referenced here.

but i've also been attracted to girls with shorter styles given the rest of the package was awesome as well.

While short hair on some is cute there is a percentage who wear their hair short because convenience for them is more important then looking attractive for him. Then there is also the group who actively don't want to look attractive to men and don't want to give the men the satisfaction of having forced them into a burka.

Ja.

For me, it's a convenience I'm willing to fight against. Looking attractive for your man is such an important part of keeping your relationship with him healthy and alive and so f...cking hot!!!

My signature says it all.

Yes. Only a few women have the pretty face needed to make short hair look good. And women with long hair can always tie their hair up short to duplicate the effect.

Long hair is better overall.

Depends on the woman. There are a lot of considerations. Long hair does not flatter an older woman generally. Long hair may flatter a young woman but what if her hair is thin and the weight of the long hair makes for loss of body and and appearance of "flatness"? There's no one size fits all answer. Some woman are so beautiful that shaving them to the root can't mess up their attraction. Some look better with long hair that is curly while straight long hair, makes 'em look plain.

Once again, there's no single universal answer. A good hair-stylist with the right female can do absolute wonders regardless of length.

Its just a question of personal preference.

I like short hair on a woman. I'm a total sucker for the pixie crop.

Other guys like long, flowing locks. I'm glad we are not all the same.
