How did your husband propose to you? Was u surprised? Did u cry? What happen?

incredibly surprised – for the most part I considered us FWB, hooking up whenever he was home on leave from his civil service job in the Middle East. After about a year and a half of this, he drives from Florida to S. Texas, then we head to Vegas. Somewhere along Fort Stockton, we get to talking about him renewing his contract overseas and I ask what that meant for us. And he goes, 'Well, you know I still want to marry you ...'

 

could've bowled me over with a feather – I just wanted to know if we were still gonna be seeing each other, and he had forever on his mind ... he never once brought up marriage before that!

 

that was 18 years ago ...

My fiance (we're not married yet) just kinda asked me! We'd had a really great day and were sitting in the bedroom just talking, kissing, laughing, etc. He was being pretty mushy, talking about how happy he is with me & how much he loves me. I didn't think anything of it though, because he often gets mushy like that. Then he said he wanted to give me a gift, went into the other room, came back with the ring box, and asked me to marry him! He'd only had the ring for four days and he apologized for not planning something more special/romantic, but said that he'd been dying to give it to me and couldn't hold off any longer.

 

For me, it was perfect! I would be embarrassed if it had been in public or if he'd made a big spectacle of it. We're a pretty private/intimate couple, so the way it happened just seemed so natural and sweet.

Husband took me out to dinner while we were on vacation and then when we got back to the condo he went in the bedroom. He came back out and gave me a hug, I felt him fiddle in his pocket and in a flash he whipped out the ring and then got down on one knee and proposed! It was very sweet! I held out my hand for him to slip the ring on and he was very nervous so he asked "Oh, is that the hand it goes on?" I still tease him about that one!
