It is as if this is a Ricky Martin concert without the hot chics. I see a few Budweiser tents, Radio tents, a swag tent, even a Jagermeister tent. My real life friends have been coming to me for relationship advice for years so I must be doing something right. True, I never understood the logic behind people with problems can't understand the problems of others. I really think it depends on the individual. Sure, some people will infuse their crap into all of their advice, as you see with a few posters...especially those who are more bitter and have an ax to grind. Other people are deeply troubled when it comes to their own lives but can give good advice when they're not emotionally invested. I've always been good at giving advice and understanding people, but bad at applying that advice to my own life. My mother is like that too. She's an amazing, highly accomplished psychologist, and her patients love her. She's helped countless people through their issues. I don't know how many letters, cards I've come across from patients years later who have thanked her for helping them. But she makes a lot of mistakes in her personal life. Keep in mind, it was all guys who had been doing this. After some time I just stopped caring about having a boyfriend. It was sooner than later that I realized none of the guys in my school were worth my time. I definitely understand this...but I never asserted myself...when I realized that I was the "outcast," I didn't bother asserting myself...I just stayed in the shadows and was that passive one in my few groups of friends...but I stopped caring about having a girlfriend...all the way up til law school... It's certainly no reflection on people that gave me advice. Me and Shadow are not friends so that we can sort out each other's life. We are friends because we connect and can relate to each other.
