nama
Ladies, The week and half up to my period and few days in - I'm on another planet. I'm low, irritable and forgetful. Nothing gets done every month for near enough 2 weeks. The whole of last week I went by thinking it was 2011 - consciously. I'm 30 next year and its taken me a few years to realise that my wierd mood swings were down to my hormones and it was not that I had some form of depression (i have had therapy so that I know!). I guess what I'm asking has anyone taken any supplements or tried anything that works that has kept it all under 'some' control. I refuse to go to the doctor for pills. I would like something natural. Someone recommended evening primrose oil? Thanks
Vesna
I have tried too many potions, pills, anit-depressants and incantations that I don't have enough room to mention them here. At present I am trying a bioidentical progesterone cream and this feels like a last resort for me. I discovered pms when I was 28 and have been on and off drugs and therapy for years. Now I'm 44 and it's living simply that helps, even if I stay single which I enjoy. Someone told me once the pms is partner-related and in some ways I agree.

whichwayisup
Make sure you load up on vitamins and minerals, before your PMS starts (like afew days before, if you know your cycle well) exercise!! Brisk walking and doing yoga can help prevent pms from taking over. Even if you don't want to walk, make yourself do it! Ask a friend or a neighbour to go with you. Drink water, careful what you eat (stick to fruits, veggies and healthier foods during your pms times).. Advil! Can't forget that. Yes, stay away from drugs, other than advil or tylenol. Eat organic foods, try going to a homeopathic dr, see what they suggest in the sense of taking herbal meds.
loverofloveandstuff
PMS is a reaction to hormones right? I do bikram yoga and my instructor told me that many of the poses help normalise and balance hormones. I've never suffered from really bad cramps or anything but you could give yoga a shot! SouthernSunshine
(on a serious note) I agree with drinking plenty of water & walking! It really helps alleviate the cramps.
