Hello. Well, this is getting semi-serious. Anxiety is so strange in that, when I feel it (constant feeling that my chest is pushed in.. can't breath, etc) I realize, there is always a reason.

Usually, it's lack of motion. In life. Such as, being unemployed, having no goals, having nothing and being lazy and unmotivated.

My anxiety makes it virtually impossible for me to be a 'bum'. If I remain in a period of isolation and inactivity I get anxiety, forcing me to.. run, walk, move, etc. Until I get a stable job, or find a person I love and all that good stuff..

So, in a way, I don't want to use meds to rid it. I want it. I actually believe people who get it had it passed on genetically as their survival means.... such as, if you live in an area there may be danger, such as near a volcano... a person with NO anxiety will just stay there. But a person WITH anxiety will yell at everyone that we need to move our village, like NOW.

So, I find it troubling that people use drugs to remove it. It's like disabling the 'check engine' light on the car cause it annoys you. Well, yah, that's the point. To annoy you to go fix it.

So, why would you disable it?? Anyway, what you guys think??

Interesting perspective. I like it, in so much that such a negative emotion, or seeming negative emotion, can have a positive impact on your life. I was reading the other day where someone mentioned depression is good. It is an indicator that something in life needs to change. Now I understand there need be some conditions with that, because clearly not all depression is good. But similarly, anger can be good too, but its how you handle and exercise that anger that makes the difference. For example you might be angry at your child for doing wrong, and discipline accordingly, but not out of anger per se. Anyway going off topic a bit here.

Hi EarthDweller, I'm pleased that you have started talking about your problems. I think that you are suffering from depression, not just anxiety (they are not exactly the same). Myself, I wouldn't recommend drugs such as prosac or paxil/seroxat because they did me a great deal of harm.

Try eating more fruit and veg and take some vitamins, especially the 'sunshine' vitamin D3 - people generally feel better about themselves and others when the sun shines - you noticed that? Omega oils are also good for general health (I take a vegetarian type).

A walk in a forest can also help, it is where most of us came from and it is built into our makeup. Try to socialize more, go to a dance or something and discover some new friends. Volunteer for a charity, who knows, as you socialize more, you might meet someone who will lift your spirits and you lift theirs. :)

The bottom line is that because of how we were made, it is not good for us to be isolated.

I found personally i've tried eating healthily, i've tried exercise and doing things I enjoy - nothing permanently eases the depression/anxiety. They don't even always relieve it temporarily.

I've accepted it's just part of who I am, for better or for worse.
