carla
Are you a diabetic, cut down/ eliminated sugar from your diet, or on a carbohydrate reduced diet. What are the treats that you miss the most? Do you have a hard time finding treats that you can have? Are they over priced? I'm doing a little business research. I appreciate it if you can help me out. Thanks.
dyermaker
My grandfather is a diabetic. He hasn't cut down one bit, and if it wasn't for my grandmother's careful repackaging of sugar-free candies/goodies inside something that doesn't brag about its sugarlessness, he'd surely be dead. quankanne
I'm diabetic, the child of two diabetic parents ... have I cut down on sugar in my diet? no, I've got a horrible sweet tooth and it's a daily battle to rethink my eating habits, one I fail more often than not. But I try. you ask about "treats." in my not so humble opinion, I think they're a bunch of crap marketed and produced to take your money away from you. One of the things I learned while taking a diabetes education class is that when you follow the food pyramid with guidelines set by a registered dietician, you get what you need, and thensome. If I can keep away from stuff like cookies and candy for several days running and substitute fruit for it, I find I develop a taste for "fresh" tasting food and the other stuff tastes yucky. And really, if you do follow a diet based on the food pyramid, you don't need the "specially created" foods because it just doesn't taste as good as the "real" food you're allowed to eat AND you find that there's no way you can eat everything the dietician has included on your diet! cutting carbs? I've not asked my doctor about it, but my thought is that a diabetic needs X amount of carbs in his/her diet to keep from having problems with low blood sugar episodes.
