StandingO
My GF is into fitness and challenged us guys with this exercise. She called it a Pistol squat. One leg is held straight out in front while using only the other leg do a squat just past parallel. My friends GF who had never done them before could complete 3 reps. My friend and I could not do one successfully. He and I could not get back up without a touch of aid. If untrained I feel women have an advantage in this exercise because they are more flexible and our center of gravity is at a disadvantage. They say that we like many guys were too top heavy and muscle bound in the upper body. That we lacked the leg strength to conpensate to stay in balance and control. The girls also said women have more leg strength for their size and more strength distribution to the lower body. The strength distribution is a good point. We are 30 to 50 pounds heavy then they are so we have to lift more weight. I know my GF has stronger legs than I do but she has the training behind her. He and I had a hard time believing that his GF has stronger legs then we do though. Her legs may just be stronger for her size. It was the start of a friendly debate. Any women and guys experience this exercise? Are women naturally stronger in the legs for theirs size.
Tiberius
If you weigh less its easier I guess. Maybe she is just naturally strong. My gf squats 485 pounds for 25 reps, at least the last time I was around to see her squat. Some people just have good genetics.
Author StandingO
Wow! squats not legs press, 25 reps and 485? She must be an elite trained power lifter. Even if it is the leg press for 25 deep reps at 485 that would still be impressive. The one women said figure skaters are trained to do this exercise. Skaters make it look easy. Tiberius
Well last time I checked she did that much. Her legs are really big, but defined. I did not find any steroids, but I am not sure what to look for either. She looks extremly muscular, she might have a condition that causes that along with her workout. Author StandingO
Well we settled it between us. My GF is 140 pounds and can squat 245 pounds. I am 180 pounds and can only squat 175 pounds. I am just gettng into leg training again. My GF's friend is not as trained as my GF but did very well too. She is 130 pounds and squatted 185 pounds. Her BF is 190 pounds and squatted 205 pounds. The girls seem to have stronger legs pound for pound but have done more training in this area too. Upper body its the opposite. I can bench 255 while my fit GF can bench 115. My friend benched 185 while his GF only benched 85 pounds. I seem to have the weakest legs of the bunch and by far the strongest upper body. My GF has the stongest legs by a wide margin. I still don't think this is typical though and is related to training. Any women on this forum notice they are stronger in the legs then your man? genakriggs
There's no gender bias when it comes to wellness. Maybe your girl is into Sequel naturals or other vitamins.
Brandycan
I believe we have a easier time doing these too. As you experienced girls usually have a stronger strength to weight ratio in the lower body and are also more flexible. Now guys can be stronger if they work out but like you many guys don't develope their lowerbody and concentrate on having big arms. If you are top heavy this exercise will be very difficult. Yes, I have stronger legs then my guy too. Upper, no way he is much more powerful.
