Hi LS, I recently got my diploma in bridal and fashion makeup. I was introduced by a friend to a renowned makeup artist who roped me in for a few big-time jobs. I felt nervous among his wealthy clients, thinking they must be disappointed that their makeup was done by me whilst their sisters' and friends' were done by him.

I also feel that feminine and bitchy guys fare better in this industry than a girl. They can look so cool and artsy fartsy. How do I remain cool in such a situation? Maybe I should dress with a statement next time...

Maybe you should just focus on your job requirements and forget the person behind the face and just focus on the features.

People are people. The airs and graces they give themselves and the way they behave should not affect the fine work you do to make them look good.

They sit and pee and crap the same way anyone does, and really, all you need to focus on is skin tone, blemishes and bringing out the best in their looks by flattering and accentuating their strong points and playing down the defects.

That's all you need to focus on.

You're just as good as your last face.

Who they are, what they do, how they act and what they say is all trivial to your job.

Be blind and deaf and insensitive to everything.

Because an added feather to your cap is the ability to be the soul of discretion and keep everything to yourself.

No gossip, no title-tattle, no talking about other clients.

Focus on what you do perfectly, and you'll be perfect.
