Rant with question!- People who get back with their EX

I am at a loss for why people get back with their ex. I know someone who broke up with his ex about a year ago because he said "she is not the one for me, she wont take risks, etc" and now, they are dating again. He has taken back what he said before. I have a feeling that this, like everyone else's will be a situation where he will eat his words.

My question is, why do people get back with their exes when

1) there was an original, probably good, reason why they broke up in the first place.

2) over time, people do change, but probably not enough to where all the probs they had before will be gone now.

3) why go back to the old, why not start with the new?

 

Could it be that they are too scared to take risks and thus, go back to what they know as "safe"?

and.....has anyone you known gotten back with an Ex and made it? things are super now?

I have gotten back with my X. Right now things are great but as in all relationships I expect to have our ups and downs.

 

I don't think it's a fear risk...it could be a fear of being alone or maybe just getting lonely.

 

In my case I found myself more miserable without him than with him so I decided to give us another chance. It was hard decision because there was another guy who was interested in me. He's really sweet and we have a lot in common but the one thing that he didn't have is my love since I am still in love with my boyfriend.

I got back with an ex.... however the second time round it only survived 8 months.... sometimes people have thier reasons for getting back with an ex... and maybe the second time proves they were not meant for eachother.... in the mean time dont let it get to you, in the first place its really none of your business.... except to try and be a supportive friend.....
