Author 2010_Sorry
Thanks to everyone for their posts. I hope to clear up some confusion by saying that I make 2/3 what my XH makes annually. The courts suggested a child support order in the amount of X and we agreed to 1/3 of the suggested amount. I agree with most people in that the states' calculations are usually a gross misrepresentation of the actual amount that a parent should pay to balance the cost of raising children. I am NOT receiving, nor did I ever ask for any alimony. My XH has simply made some poor financial decisions and I am seeing him suffer. He has racked up 10K in credit card debt in a matter of 3 months, he stopped paying the mortgage payment on his second home intentionally, and that has been foreclosed on and he has borrowed a large amount of cash from his parents to pay for his attorney bill. As I said earlier, he makes a significant amount of money more than I do, yet he seems to be struggling to make ends meet. I figured that since I was saving the cs money that he was paying me, that I should cancel the order so he can work to get himself to a better financial place. Unfortunately, what I haven't posted is that the child support enforcement agency has messed up our case and he hasn't actually paid for the past 3 months. Of course, the county has been hitting his credit for it as he is in arrears. I asked him to pay the county directly and I would write him a check that day. His response was "That money has already been spent". With three months of child support, I would have thought that he would have been able to at least pay back his parents!
