Gold Pile Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Meaning to ad red wine to my diet, a glass a day. I never much got into wine. What wine do you drink for health? I'll guess that it should be cheap and capped rather than corked?
PegNosePete Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 I don't think different types have any different health benefits. Just try a few and see what you like. Start at the cheapest and work your way up, when you find one you like then stop
GPFan Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I would recommend you drink what you like, that's the best way to choose a wine.
wuggle Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 I would actualy recomend a better quality wine rather than a cheaper one, especially if you are only having a glass a day, because a lot of the cheaper wines have additives in them to make the wine bottleable earlier, these can often lead to headaches and grogginess and also if you just try cheap wines you might be disappointed and give up early. Rioja, is nice (pronounced roughly ree-ok-a) is a nice fruity spanish wine, there are basically three 'levels' depending on how long it has been matured (left to sort of settle etc) a crianza (pronounced roughly cree-anth-a) is the most basic, then you get a reserva and then best of all a gran-reserva, the latter being allowed to mature for longest, usually many years. Generally a young wine will be a brighter vivid red and an older will have gone slightly muddier and browner. Often a younger wine can be a bit sharper and more acidic that the older ones which are a lot smoother. Other nice wines I like are Ripassa and Amorone , both heavy Italian wines. Lovely
