I made my first in-person Loveshack friendship after being a member for nearly six years. I met Carhill yesterday as he is visiting me in my city. We've been having a blast and I strongly recommend him as a friend. :)

Now that RP has edited her post to get my username right ;), I will share that she is just as lovely, sensitive and intelligent a lady in real life as she comes across on LS. She puts together a pretty awesome Russian dinner too. I'm looking forward to seeing what surprises tomorrow brings. Happy holidays :)

For some inexplicable reason, carhill came to mind. And sure enough, it's carhill!

Happy Holidays to both of you. Glad you're having a good time together. :)

Of all the people, my first RL contact was with an LS-er from the opposite coast! :D

Happy Holidays to both of you. Glad you're having a good time together. :)
TBF, congratulations on your marriage and baby. I am so happy for you! :bunny:

That is cool RP. I'm glad you two have had fun!

Kinda curious, how did RP put down your username the first time? :p

I knew she'd be a good cook! Have fun tomorrow and happy holidays to you too CH.

I'm a decent cook, but I didn't cook. I just bought from the Russian store: (ground) chicken cutlets with squash, soteed cabbage, ajvar, pindjur (last two are mostly roasted pepper spreads/salads - not Russian foods), smoked turkey breast (deli), smoked cheese, farmer cheese with dill and garlic (spread), aspic... rye bread, fresh veggies.

You asked. :p

I have three particular friends off LS, with whom I have met up, and we get on like a house on fire.

But I'm not going to say who they are.

They know, though..... :D

However, they are really-oh truly-oh wonderful people, and I'd share my last cookie with them any day.

They make cold days on LS warm.

It's nice to know some folks have your back, and I certainly have theirs.....

pretty cool y'all were able to meet up! I've spoken with a former Shacker by phone, and that was really fun, because he was raised not too far from where I live now, so there was a lot of shared background.

dinner sounds yummy – RP, it's not whether you prepare the meal, but in how you're able to create an enjoyable atmosphere :love::love:

That's a nice story. I commonly use social networking sites to make friends. In fact, last night I went to a pot luck and met a bunch of people on an online network. And tomorrow, I'm going to a happy hour with another group of people from another web site.

Love Shack feels more like an anonymous site where people share their problems, but don't connect personally. I'm glad that I am wrong about that. Perhaps someday I'll meet some folks too.

LS is a strange yet lovely place to meet others. Apart from knowing one LSer extremely well, I have had the absolute delight of meeting another.

We have to meet up again soon - you and **** will have to come and stay with us soon ;):)

Aww, thats a great story.

I am also a little jealous!

I hope one day I will get to meet some of you IRL, there are so many of you whom I have so much respect for..

As evidence of the power of food, my best friend, perhaps a little jealous of my sitting at the table of another, just called and invited me to step outside and smell the garlic turkey he's currently BBQ'ing all the way across the country. Friends are a wonderful asset to have in one's life, and I'm very blessed to have those I do.

RP and I had some epic 'discussions' during my visit, reflective of the dynamic often shared on LS, and I hope learned more about each other and about relationships and friendships in general. I did get the opportunity to leave my home improvement touch upon her digs, if only modestly. No one escapes my fixits :D

Anyway, I'm heading home tomorrow through snowy Chicago and Denver and, barring planes skidding off runways, I should be back home to rainy Cali tomorrow evening. I've had a wonderful time. Take care.

Ha! Apparently I asked twice!

What is Soteed Cabbage?

Thanks RP! It's been a crazy couple of years for me. Didn't think men like this existed anymore but I was happily proven wrong! :)

Oh that sounds good :)

When I signed up for LS I only wanted to lurk around and post a bit and had specifically decided not to get friendly or share personal details with anyone. But now I have an unexpected online LS friend who I'm very grateful for. I don't know if we'll ever get to meet IRL, but I hope so. I think he might cook me dinner if we do :)

That's great!

While I have not met any members in person, I have gained a great friend through Loveshack...jthorne! We are in personal contact daily and I am thrilled I met someone who I connected with on so many levels through this site!! :bunny::bunny::bunny:

I also feel close to several others - BB07, Hopeless4you, BentnotBroken, WhichWayIsUp and a couple others who are no longer on here. I feel as if my life and my world has been enriched by some of the great friends I have made here!

RP and I talk on the phone fairly regularly and, as her busy schedule with law school and her twins allows, I'll pop in again sometime soon. It's just a comfy overnight sleep from Cali. Life is an adventure :)

Good to hear from you, RecordProducer. The other day I read an old thread, came across one of your posts, and realised it's been a while. Greetings to carhill too, loveshack will be slow now that he's offline. With regards to culinary delights, I envisioned a proud RecordProducer stuffing an already full carhill with even more Blinis. :)

I kept looking for the caviar to go with the blinis at that Russian grocery store but couldn't find any. Maybe next time. It reminded me of my trips to Russia and Ukraine, except with full shelves! I didn't understand a lick of what people were saying, even RP. Fortunately for me, in the same shopping center is the Home Depot, where they speak my language ;)

I hope RP won't mind me saying that our toasts to friendship were made with cups of tea, something I was quite happy to share. This morning, as I arose early, I had occasion to go back and scan some of her past threads and can opine she's come a long way. I'm proud of her. :)
