Leigh 87
Please share some positive changes you intend to impliment for 2010: what are some of your goals you have set for yourself? The first thing I am going to do, is go on a diet; I lost weight healthily through running, but have since stopped, and the lack of activity and emotional eating, has lead to a little weight gain. I got down to 114, and am now gaining to 115 and over if I do not act now lol! PLAN: Run 3 days a week for 30 mins. Do either a pilates matt DVD, OR a Tracey Anderson matt DVD every day. I will walk whereever possible, and will not drive unless I need to. DIET: OKAY: Now this is ONLY TO LOSE the two LBS I gained! Afterwards, I will eat enough to maintain:) BREAKFAST: Green smoothie ( raw leafy greens, blended with frozen banana's and/ OR frozen raspberries. LUNCH: - Sweet potato " french fries", done in olive oil, and dipped in almond butter/macadamia butter. OR pb and jam sandwich on sprouted essene bread OR any sort of sprouted product from a raw kitchen in bondi DINNER: Two chicken drumsticks, or a two egg omlette w/ mushrooms, or, turkey or beaf bolognese ( I love it on its own, w/ out the spaghetti) SNACKS: LOTS OF WATER, small hand full of raw nuts, or a glass or two of red wine with or without meals, OR a raw energy bar ( made from almonds, dates, and sultanas) I don't count calories any more, but I never ate under 1500 on my weight loss plan this year, so I pressume I will need at least that to function:) I wanted to just not eat and fast for a day or two to quickly lose weight, but I want to lose weight the sensible way, and lean healthy long term statagies to deal with bad food habits, such as eating late at night if I am bored. OK - so I want every one to share their on going plans to better their health! And of course, share your progress:)
Star Gazer
Leigh, EVERYONE'S weight fluctuates by a couple pounds, particularly women with their hormonal/menstrual cycles. I'm 2 pounds lighter right now than I was 2 days ago. I don't think I've "lost weight" anymore than I'll think I've "gained weight" when those 2 pounds reappear on the scale. Your straight up obsession with less than two pounds is a bad, bad sign. Have you seen your therapist lately??
Author Leigh 87
Hello Star:) Hope your crossfit is going well. I have actually learnt a lot about fluctuations lately - I have started to drink A LOT of water, and have weighed myself before and afterwards; I have fluctated 4 lbs every day, actually. Fluctuations have been normal, but everything has gone up lately, and not gone back down again...... it is genuine weight gain; besides, I have stopped my intense cardio, and stopped running 3 days per week, and I have eaten more than when I was running. I can deal with a lower calorie plan, and once I start running again, I will eat maintenane ( 1600), and lose weight through the additional cals burnt through running and exercise. I just do not feel like exercising much these next 2 - 3 days, I do not feel like setting foot in the gym until I lose 2 lbs . I do not need my therapist at this point, as she knows I base how I feel on my wweight, because I have nothing else in my life to make me feel good about who I am. Aside from making myself a more knowledgable, smarter, funnier, and alla round better person ( so people worth knowing will want to make friends with me), there is nothing I can do besides bettering myself, so that I do not have to use my weight to dictate how I feel about myself. Another goal I have, is obviously that I need to develop more of a personality, and work hard at achieving other things in life, besides looking good on the outside. I HAVE stopped binge eating, so that is some sort of progress I can share:) This is huge for me, as I would use food to deal with everything before, and it would always lead to a binge. Els
Leigh, I agree with Star. It's not just your obsessions with a 1-pound fluctuation. LOOK back over your post history. How many have you made about weight? A few other posters have made consistent 'weight loss' journals here, but they were truly overweight and actually NEEDED it. You, on the other hand, are a normal person obsessed over getting skinnier and skinnier.
Author Leigh 87
Part of my goal for 2011, is to overcome the fact that I AM a normal person, who does not need to lose weight, yet who basis so much of my mood on if I have lost or gained. I cannot overcome my need to want to be thinner to feel better about myself, until I have something going for myself; So far, I have been accepted to start a nutrition degree SOON in March, so I can start with aiming to attain a degree. I will also aim to read more on a wider variety of subjects, so that more people will want to talk to me ( because I will have more to offer people). I have other goals besides fitness and diet related. I just naturally enjoy talking about the ideal method on how to attain your optimal body, because it is the area that most interests me. I suppose I should go to the self improvement thread, and talk about pesonal goals I have besides weight and fitness related ones; and ask peoples feedback on good books to read, and things I should know about that will better connect me to other people in society ( for instance, I know very little on world history, economics, or anything really, so those things would hinder me from connecting to people with any real substance to them). In terms of fitness, I have not been at a weight that is " too low" for me in years, so there is no need to be concerned about me becomming thinner and thinner; I always stop when I reach my hottest weight. I have no desire to be anorexic or too thin looking. WHY don;t you talk about your own health and fitness goals when you comment about my owbn situation? THAT is what this thread is for. I can deal with MY OWN problems. With a therapist or life coach; not random people who do not know me. Although I do appreciate you taking the time to tell me how thigns look from the outside; I have taken your comments into account.

Yer_Blues
I'm finishing it in 2011. I don't even feel the need to really write out plans in specific terms as I usually would, because I no longer need the boost in motivation. I'm injured right now and it is driving me CRAZY. I'm into running hard 5-7 times a week and being this inactive with all of the unhealthy holiday food influences is incredibly frustrating. I'm not a person who utilizes nutrition much if at all in losing weight. I'd rather run until the treadmill tells me I've lost 1000 calories and not micromanage my diet. Nevertheless, this is it. Home stretch, goal weight will be reached. Problem has defined me since I was six or seven years old. Two years ago, I had practically given up. As soon as my leg is functional again, I'm going to redefine marathon. Wish everybody who hasn't reached the goal well. And for those who are looking to start their weight loss journey, forget about resolutions and diets. It may be more than a full year before you are done if you are more than 100-150lbs overweight. Get in the right mindset, develop that swagger, and realize that once you figure our how your body responds, nobody can stop you but your own decisions.
allina
My goal for 2011 is to run more and drink less. I will run a full marathon this year, I'm fairly close but have to keep up training and keep increasing my intensity. I will also cut back on the boozing. I like a couple of glasses of wine after work but I feel like it adds up. I should probably cut back on the coke zero too
Star Gazer
I should probably cut back on the coke zero too I need to do this too - soda of all types. It's my weakness! Goals for 2011: Run more, drink more water, improve my time on certain races and CrossFit WODs. And on a non-fitness related note, put my clothes in the hamper or back on their hanger, rather than the floor.

Goals for 2011: Run more, drink more water, improve my time on certain races and CrossFit WODs. And on a non-fitness related note, put my clothes in the hamper or back on their hanger, rather than the floor. It's just so cold, bubbly and refreshing sometimes, ya know? I need to put away clean clothes right after taking them out of the dryer, not throwing them in a laundry basket to "take care of later." I always end up forgetting about them for a day, and having the cat sleep on top of them, wrinkling them and getting fur on them, making me have to re-wash everything. Star Gazer
Yep...me too...as I always say, "folded clothes are happy clothes." I want my clothes to be happy! I'll think of them as individual, living beings. Maybe that will help!

Star Gazer
(1) Repeat 2010. I think that's it... Well, I can't repeat 2010 like you. I wasn't perfect this year! I think I also need to do more yoga, or something to limber me up more.
january2010
Eat less junk food. Eat more vegetables. Drink less coffee. Drink more water. Learn to ride a bike. Be more active.

I think I also need to do more yoga, or something to limber me up more. This was actually something I had seriously considered starting to do regularly...my flexibility isn't what it used to be when I was a short beanpole... And one of my friends said that at some studios, guys are allowed to do it without their shirts on...so as long as I'm the only guy in there...

Star Gazer
I'm also going to try to do a real paleo diet. I'm starting to think I might honestly have a gluten allergy.
USMCHokie
I'm also going to try to do a real paleo diet. I'm starting to think I might honestly have a gluten allergy. Is Paleo something that you should sustain as your every day diet plan...? Or is it something you're supposed to cycle in with a traditional balanced diet plan...?
Star Gazer
Is Paleo something that you should sustain as your every day diet plan...? Or is it something you're supposed to cycle in with a traditional balanced diet plan...? It's my understanding that it's an every day thing, but the guys at CF that do it allow themselves one cheat day a week (which isn't cheating in the traditional sense as much as just non-paleo). 112233
It would be interesting if you set a goal of packing on 5 pounds of muscle. As slim as you are, that would look good and it might be a nice change for you to focus on that.

xpaperxcutx
I want to tone my legs so I'm planning to run everyday for 30 mins.
