Thinkalot
Ok, this is really for anyone who is, or has ever been, or ever wants to be, married. What five words would you use to describe marriage? I'm sure you can think of more than five, but I thought keeping it to five would encourage people to think of the most important aspects... I would say: Love, committment, trust, friendship and compromise.
quankanne
love, compromise, sharing, discretion, compromise Discretion = knowing when to keep your mouth shut when you really, REALLY want to tell him "I told you so!" compromise gets my vote twice because when you're in a dedicated relationship like marriage, you suddenly come to realize that yours isn't the only say in matters that affect the marriage. Julieanna
I've been married three times. I've been widowed, divorced and now remarried. My first marriage was to the love of my life - he died after we were married five years. My second husband was abusive and controlling - I divorced him. My current husband is self absorbed and also controlling. I can't describe marriage in five words - but I can give advice. Marry someone you can talk to and who will be your best friend. It's hard to find a man who doesn't want you to be his maid, cook and sex slave. I've yet to meet a man who isn't a control freak. Marriage is definately giving up your independence!
