Proof is right here!

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to stop in and remind everyone that LDRs CAN WORK! My fiance and I are proof, and there is proof all over this forum. Rollercoaster and her husband come to mind and there are others too!

My fiance and I will be together *for good* in the same location (!!) in 97 days. We conquered 1700 miles distance for 27 months.

We even got engaged during our LD stint.

So stay strong and tell the naysayers where they can go! ;)

Thank you all. I haven't been around LS lately. It's because things are so darn awesome right now that I haven't needed to seek advice.

I intend on hanging out here more though to try to help others see that this is totally doable! Just gotta have two individuals that wanna make it work! ;)

Thanks for the thread and congratulations!

LDRs are hard but mine has been very successful and we are very happy. Still a long time to wait until being together permanently but we know our time will come.

That's right Sophie!!

For all the heartache and for all of the struggles Mathew and I have had, our wonderful relationship(and now marriage!) is well worth any of that. If I had to make the decision all over again I'd still do everything the exact same way. I'm so happy I can't stand myself most days! :p

And I don't know if anyone remembers(some of the older posters may), but Lovinascrapper and his lovely lady recently got engaged. She made her relocation a few months back and they are both blissfully happy.

Congrats on ending your distance soon!!!:love::love:

Congratulations!

If you don't mind my asking, what was your situation? Were you in a relationship before going long distance, or did you start dating long distance?

If I remember correctly(and it's been a way long time since Sophie came to the forums), she and her fiance started out in the same place and then he moved away for med school. I believe they've been together for over 5 years. Correct me if I'm wrong Sophie! My mind isn't what it used to be, even at a young age of 22 LOL

Mathew and I were always long distance. We met online almost 8 years ago and things went from there. There was a whole big mess in between but he and I have been together this time for almost 3 years.

So there's two success stories from both ends of the spectrum! One that started out in person and one that didn't.

Yes Roller, you're right.

My fiance and I were together 5 years in the same place before he left for med school.

We have now been together over 7 years. Our long distance is ending forever in 93 when he'll be home for good! :bunny:

My sincerest congratulations! I do believe that many things learned during a LDR are the basis for a strong future. Trust, patience, making time together special, being there for them in other ways, being creative with almost every aspect from talking on the phone to planning your time together, etc.

I also must imagine the bliss will be extra sweet when it finally happens. Sleeping alone was always the hard part for me, after being together! This post made me smile!
