HeavenOrHell
Mine would probably be not washing his pillow after he slept here at Xmas, so I can still smell him, also always have a t.shirt he's worn. I'd probably do much soppier stuff but he's not as sentimental as me so I can't really! Some of you are probably much soppier, watching each other sleep on skype for example! Why do women tend to be more sentimental I wonder...

FreeheartLover
Yet a better question - why are women so attracted to a man's smell? Pheremones, I know. They're irresistible.
Author HeavenOrHell
Aw I also do silly things like cook the same meal like we cooked together at his place, just to remind me of him and being at his place. Watch some of his fave programmes (I do actually like them too but one of them he introduced me to), and I've got a couple of sweet answer phone messages from months ago, I havent kept ALL his answer phone messages as that might be a bit OTT I've kept some his old texts, I kept loads of them at first but deleted them and regret it now. I also hold my hand in bed sometimes and pretend it's his, how silly
Author HeavenOrHell
Men should be equally attracted to our smell shouldn't they? Or maybe we're just more soppy! I wonder if as many men in LDR's ask their partner for an item of clothing to smell. Yet a better question - why are women so attracted to a man's smell? Pheremones, I know. They're irresistible. I wonder if as many men in LDR's ask their partner for an item of clothing to smell. Women aren't the only soppy ones! (Although I prefer the term "hopeless romantic"). I love the smell of my girl and we often mail our t-shirts back and forth to each other. We do lots of things like this. In my view, given the nature of an LDR, it's so important to share these little things as much as possible because it's not like you can just walk into the next room and give your SO a kiss. donnamaybe
I go through old e-mails (I call them love-mails) from when we were first dating. Some of them still make me cry (and blush ). OOPS! Just noticed this is in the LDR section. Sorry!
Author HeavenOrHell
Aw My partner thinks he is romantic but he doesn't do these little things, I'd love it if he wanted one of my t.shirts! He's not very forthcoming, I would find being in an LDR easier if he was I think. Women aren't the only soppy ones! (Although I prefer the term "hopeless romantic"). folieadeux
My SO and I leave each other with little things before we part. I haven't washed his shirt or scarf yet he wore on our most recent visit...it still smells like him and I just can't bring myself to do it. I re-read letters and messages over and over. I also sleep with a stuffed animal he got me before I took him to the airport. I think the sappiest thing I've done is saving wrapping paper...I can't throw out anything he gives me, it's important for me to have physical reminders of him everywhere. Pyro
Actually we do keep skype on while we sleep. She has two of my favorite shirts that she wears to bed.
zebracolors
This Maybe more of a ritual but the sentiment behind it may be the same. In Turkey, the tradition of drinking hot tea is quite common and taken seriously. And everynight that when he is on, I have tea with him while we chat.
TokyoG33kyGal
i go through our chat conversations, our old messages/emails to each other then i would e-mail him in the evening for him to see when he gets to work and remind him of how we fell in love and such.
JustJoe
Actually we do keep skype on while we sleep. She has two of my favorite shirts that she wears to bed.GF does this too. She wears my old RedWings sweater to bed. I wear a necklace she gave me, and she wears my old Army dogtags. Sentimentality is good, but I draw the line at pet-names.

Shestand
When we first started long distance he gave me a childrens book (little critter- All By Myself by mercer mayer if anyone knows it) and I read it every night before I go to bed. It's his way of reminding me that even when he's not around I can still have good days. Like most people have mentioned I have a lot of clothes of his that I wear, a blanket he gave me, and I love reading old e-mails! S
Author HeavenOrHell
Yeah, I can imagine! Shame my partner doesn't want any of my clothing. My boyfriend has told me before that my smell is enough to give him an erection. There is an article of clothing I have left at his place that he likes to smell.

I wonder if as many men in LDR's ask their partner for an item of clothing to smell. if i smell something that even closely resembles my girlfriends smell, it drives me crazy inside because i long for her so much. the soppiest thing i've ever done would be creating 190 love letters in medicine capsules for my girlfriend to read everyday till she sees me again. I also look at pictures of her on my phone before i go to sleep so i'll dream about her. And if i wakeup in the middle of the night i'll look at them again just because i want to see her so badly even if it's in my dreams
Citizen Erased
I've now claimed two of his shirts as mine. I sleep every night with this stuffed koala he gave me after our first visit. It smells like him right now cos he sprayed it with his cologne before he left. Like he already said, we leave Skype on at night when we're sleeping. I love waking up to that smile of his, even if it's on the other side of the world. And sorry JJ, but we have a variety of pet names.
Author HeavenOrHell
I read about all your love letters on another thread and thought you must be female Just because I'm not used to men being that romantic. I think that's so sweet and thoughtful, she's very lucky Actually, I'm assuming you're male, but don't know for sure if i smell something that even closely resembles my girlfriends smell, it drives me crazy inside because i long for her so much. the soppiest thing i've ever done would be creating 190 love letters in medicine capsules for my girlfriend to read everyday till she sees me again. creighton0123
Boyfriend sometimes takes naps during his day on the weekend. I like to have him set it up so I can watch him while he sleeps. It makes me feel as though he's just in the next room.
eidolon
I make little comics of visits and memories, which is a nice way to just spend time reminiscing. Reading logs and looking at pictures we emailed each other is nice too! Also, falling asleep with our phones on at night is really comforting. Just knowing he's there and such the sound of white noise is something I can't sleep without now. Sometimes I'll just pass out on Skype with him. I feel safe and happy and comfortable with him there, haha. Not tooooo sappy I guess.
