Hello everyone, I'm looking for healthy snack ideas. I always seem to be eating the same things day after day, and want to inject a little variety into my diet.

 

Here are some of my old standbys:

- Almonds

- Oatmeal w/ fruit

- Cottage cheese (although, it is somewhat high in sodium)

 

What are yours?

green beans (look dull but they are really tasty)

dried mango

dried banana

nuts that have not been roasted/salted

baby carrots/ regular carrots

celery

raw swede

and just regular fruit (bananas, apple, etc.)

-- Edamame (immature soybeans in the pod, with a bit of salt).

-- Rice cake with natural peanut butter.

-- Fresh pineapple. Love it -- so sweet it's like candy, but good for you.

It's those people who live up in Scandinavia, they're quite tasty :p

It looks pretty boring, but if you peel the thick skin off it's pretty tasty both raw (just cut it into pieces and eat it, you can also grate it and use it in a salad) and cooked. If you're cooking it with a meal, you can either boil it, mash it, or bake it in the oven.

Peanut butter is a good snack if you buy the sort that's 100% peanuts with no added oil. It's high calorie but very filling, so you need only eat a little bit, maybe on wholegrain toast or something.

 

I also like those instant soup things you make with hot water, though they can be a little high in salt. I love miso with a few rice noodles dropped in, and maybe a little bit of tofu.

 

You could also try swapping your oatmeal for quinoa or rice flake porridge, yum yum!

I love rice cakes too, they are better for you than bread and good if you are cutting down on wheat/ gluten. I love them with cottage cheese, tomato and sweet chilli sauce.

 

Some of the flavoured ones can be quite high in salt though, and sweet chilli sauce has a fair bit of sugar in it.

 

I also love little rice crackers or carrot sticks with hummus. Hummus is yum yum yum and homemade stuff is pretty healthy. Any kind of homemade bean dip is yummy.

 

Other healthy snacks I like are fruit, low fat yoghurt and those instant rice noodle things. I just made a batch of apple and banana muffins that have no butter or sugar in them and they were really nice too.

Edamame with garlic powder dipped in low-sodium soy sauce

Kale chips!!

Dried cranberries, in the little box like raisins...makes me feel like a kid again!

WB would crawl over hot coals to get a packet of raisins- she just needs to see an empty box and shes whining for them!

 

The little boxes are really cute, and its cute to watch her fish the raisins out with her little fingers. :)

I just discovered cocoa roasted almonds! yum! they come in 100 calorie packs and you get quite a bit.

My favorite thing to snack on is raw veggies(red/yellow) peppers, sugar snap peas, cellery, carrots, cucumber. I chop them all up as soon as I get home from the store and put them into snack size baggies..that way I have no excuse for bad snacking. the whole bottom droor is full of fruit and veggie bags.

Edamame peas, raw nuts, and whole boiled eggs. They're all just protein and guiltfree when you eat them at night.

I <3 oven baked brussel sprouts.

Omg you should try it with Goat Gouda cheese ..... so so good!Brussel sprouts are the bess knees!

Roasted chickpeas - we are always either making or eating these it seems. The whole family inhales them.

homemade bread with raw butter - I just had some of this YUM!!!
