What constitutes a LDR?

Recommended Posts

Time and space are relative according to one's situation and resources.

Exactly! Which is why I believe it's not for any of us to say whether someone else is in a LDR. Even age isn't really relevant here. If a person's world is 'small', any person outside that world is considered a long way away. So if it feels LD to the people in the relationship, then LD it is. :)

I was thinking more along the lines of you're much more likely to see your partner a lot more frequently if they live 65 miles away and in the same country than if they live in another country or state, I was thinking more of the emotional effects and how seeing your partner weekly or fortnightly just can't be compared to waiting several weeks or months to see them. I wouldn't feel down like I often do because of missing him if I saw him weekly or fortnightly.

I wonder if the OP or anyone who lives an hour or two's drive from their partner, but also has past experience of being with someone living much further than 65 miles away, and used to not see their ex for weeks or months on end would still think of their new r/ship as LD.

But I know that's not the point, but that's where I was coming from originally, basically I'm envious her partner lives 65 miles away! I would so LOVE that.

I sometimes feel like I'm suffering as I'm not with my other half much, I would be so happy if he was 65 miles away.

I apologise as I'm talking out of frustration with only seeing my partner every 6-8 weeks for 3 or days each time, I also know I am a lot luckier than some, so yes it is all relative. I have to be honest, I don't think I would have it in me to be in an LDR if I had to wait 2 months or more, it would just be too much.
