Help from the Ladies

Hi there, my ex & I went out for 5 years...we broke up about 8 months ago. It was mutual break-up. We've had limited contact since...mainly idle phone chat. I've come to the conclusion that I want her back or at least want to give it 1 more shot.

I want to know the proper way to approach this.. Since I've already done the drunken phone call thing a few days ago she has a hint I'm interested again (& no she didn't hang up...just listened..very non-committal & I didn't outright say I wanted to get back together...we just talked about our relationship & I told her I hadn't been able to connect to anyone else & I missed her).--It probably was pretty pathetic.

Anyway, now I want to move to stage 2 a little more forcefully & was considering a card w/ the message "Name...it's always been hard letting you go ...I know neither of us were ready & we still have to grow...I'm still thinking of you and wondering if someday...While that day isn't now...will it ever be..someday, forever yours...Name"

See it's not to forceful, kinda leaves it open & lets her know how I'm feeling. Also this note would be accompanied by 24 either yellow or white roses.

So ladies is it too cheesy? wrong approach? & what colour roses? I was thinking maybe a mixture of red & white...all white or maybe yellow?

I need a woman's input

That's not cheesy!!! Pick me, pick me!!! LOL Just kidding.

I would go with the big roses (I don't know what they are called off the top of my head, I think "tea" roses?), but either white or a soft, soft pink are incredibly romantic.

I think your approach is great....it's effective.

Yes I agree with you that the drunkn phone call thing is pathetic. Sorry if that sounds nasty, but I've been on the recieving end of a couple of thoughs b4.

Anyway the note sounds good. IMO 1 red or pink rose would do. I just think that a dozen is a waste of money. Maybe I'm cheap. I just think that a dozen roses are more appropiate for your bride on your wedding or your wife/gf for the birth of a child. You could go to the grocery store and get them cheaper. She may find grocery store flowers cheesy I personaly don't. Just call me your untypical woman.

Oh, hell, go for the dozen LOL. If she means that much to you, then do it. That's what it's all about...what she's worth to you will come across.

I believe he said 24 roses. I think that's overkill. And I agree that soft pink are very romantic.

arrhhh so nice to see there are romantic guys out there.. you go get her.. I personally have to agree with Carla on this one I think 1 rose speaks volumes and pink is a really nice colour but white is just as nice.. its not quantity its quality and its sweet and subtle..

Best of love hope it goes well

let us know you get on...

Well, thanks for the support...I was a little worried the whole thing may be too overwhelming considering we haven't been seeing each other for 8 months but i suppose its better to let her know up front how i feel & not play games.

I did make one mistake it seems...I broke down & got 12 of the white & 12 of the pink so its going to be 24. Hopefully the overkill won't dampen the spirit of the gesture.

Two further questions for the ladies...how long would you wait to respond if you were going to respond...would it likely be a day or 2 of reflection or more of a grab the phone kind of thing? I realize its hard to judge but maybe try based on your own experiences.

Also would you expect a follow up phone call a day later or is it now her move period.

I am GLAD you got all 24. Seriously, that is VERY flattering. One flower just wouldn't cut it for me. I would practically be insulted.

One of my exes chased me and chased me, and the trick that cinched the deal was he sent a dozen red roses to me along with a card. That did the trick. He had been contacting me for months, begging. When he DID something, I was moved. He did something that showed me he cared.

As far as awaiting a reply. I would give it a week. She might be flabber gasted at first, and regardless of what she decides to do...she's going to be elated and walking on air. She might need some time to think about it. A week, is what I would consider a respectable amount of time.

Congratulations on your decision, and good luck!!!

Help!!!!!

ok, i'm starting to feel like a bit of a wuss, asking about this stuff but this whole scenario makes me nervous because I really opened up to her & I'm not sure I can live up to that kind of outpouring of affection..

Anyway, she called & left a message & said thanks for the flowers it was really nice of me. Now I'm nervous...should I call back right away...let it sit for a day or so & try & collect myself?

Ladies, would you expect an immediate call back? Would you be insulted or intrigued if I didn't call back right away?

Mike, call her back already LOL The last post you put up was about how long would you expect to hear back from her. I would go ahead and call her. That's a GREAT sign that she's called you already.

You might not hear what you want, but I think she's being VERY receptive to you about the whole thing because she called. If she was thinking, "Whoa mule! I don't know WHAT in the world HE'S thinking..." etc, etc, I doubt she would have called right away, and she did call you right away.

Go for it! I know your heart is pounding a mile a minute, but just RELAX, and give her a call! I'm rooting for you! Good luck, and let us know what happens
