Bit of an update...want some input

CE- I am really sorry to hear that ANYONE has any opposition to the LS wedding of the century. I mean duh where the hell have they BEEN?

I have never met you and I know you aren't in it for a greencard. Good grief.

I am inclined to agree with those who say that you should probably wait until you actually have you visa in hand.

While I know that another two months is going to feel like an eternity, don't underestimate being able to leave your mum on a good, guilt free note.

Good luck with the decision making. :)

Thanks sb :)

I suppose all I can do is wait and see when I have the visa, then I'll go from there.

And yeah, anyone that has even seen us a from a distance can see we're crazy about each other, no ulterior motives. Some people just want to see the negative I guess.

I decided to stay until after her wedding to leave. Not that I received a word of thanks or anything. And she won't be there to say goodbye to me when I leave the country for good. Or when I get married. Which doesn't seem to bother her so that's ok, as long as she's happy.

I can't see myself stepping foot back in this country for a very, very long time.

How about a little reverse emotional blackmail? Have her pay for a two-week trip stateside including luxury hotel and you will be her MOH. After all, what's a few dollars between family members when you're giving up several months with the love of your life JUST to make her happy?

Hey, you'll never know until you've set down the terms and conditions of your tenure as MOH asked.

Appeal goes like this:

Mom, while I'm so very happy for you and your upcoming wedding and also want to be there for you, I've been waiting a lifetime to be with Pyro. It's been really painful for the two of us to be constantly separated, only able to spend three short trips together.

Since you're also in love, imagine what this must feel like to desperately want to be together but being held apart by distance. (Inject pathos of the tearful, sobbing and blowing your nose kind.)

Maybe if I could see him for a couple of weeks, a few months before the wedding, I might not feel so bad delaying being with him. But I can't afford the trip and after they approve me to move, I can't come home for the wedding.

I know you're going to say I have a lifetime with him in the future. But I NEED to see him soon.

That would probably work on anyone else TBF. See, the thing is, my mother isn't exactly like most. She doesn't feel things. If she saw me crying she'd tell me to suck it up, it's not that long. Empathy isn't something she is capable of.

It was a shock when I moved in with my ex's family and experienced what a real family is like. People that are selfless and think of each other. That'd work on them.

CE, you are by far the better person.

I didn't realise your mother was that bad!

Now that's to your benefit.

Dear Mom,

If you want me to stay to be your MOH, you'll have to fund a prior stateside trip. If you're unwilling to do so I will understand and continue with my plans to move to the States on my own timetable.

Thanks,

Daughter

:)
