Breaking the ice after a breakup

Recommended Posts

Me and my guy recently got back together , i think we are both a little skeptical because the relationship became a little intense before the breakup... we are together after 6 weeks .. been back together for about a month... we are fine for the most part but im having a hard time communicating with him ... maybe because he broke up with me ... i know he cares for me thats not the issue .. i just feel like im walking on egg shells ... NOW this is just me .. i dont want to loose him again . but i fear thats exactly what i am doing... im just trying to make it light and fun again .. and get my confidence back and know where the relationship stands .. i want to talk with him but i dont want to get too heavy any suggestions how to break the ice? a little just need some help knowing how to explain how i feel without him feeling pressured .. maybe a fun flirty(NOT SLUTTY) text .. that will get us in the right mood for our date sat night .. i was thinking if i could break the ice then maybe it will flow a little better ? any ideas?

Let it happen naturally, don't plan it or force it or try to come up with a plan for it. You've only been dating again for a week, he broke up with you and hurt so obviously you're going to be scared it's still fresh in your mind. Better to be guarded right now then totally vulnerable in my opinion. It will all come together in time.

Best policy, in my opinion, is to always be honest. Tell him that you've felt like you're walking on egg shells since you got back together and want to know if there is any reason why you should be cautious. Tell him you want a serious, but easy and fun relationship, but that you're afraid of pressuring him - and that you only feel this way because you sincerely care about him.

If he locks up or withdraws because he can't handle honest communication, it's not you that's doing something wrong.

Of course, you might want to wait until you two get settled in before having such a communication. Perhaps waiting two more weeks and just having fun on your dates until you can better gauge where the two of you are emotionally.
