I'd rather talk about heaven....

Recommended Posts

This thread can serve as an answer to the negativity in the hell thread. If you believe there is a such place as heaven, whether it is somewhere up above us with God sitting on a throne or on an island full of nekkid clones of [insert your favorite hottie here] serving margaritas, please explain to us what you believe it to be like and what you/everyone must do to get there. If you believe God is there, what will be the first thing you say to him or ask him? I will post my own opinion later on....

Yes,

I for one believe in heaven (and subsequently hell). The first thing I will ask God is why he made my life on earth hell

I do not believe in an afterlife, I used to believe in reincarnation, but never the heaven thing.

If that's the case, in my next life maybe I'll come back as a shoe as opposed to the doormat I've been in this life...good grief, can I play the martyr any more than that LOL.

I believe in heaven.

I also believe that heaven is one thing that I'll never understand. I don't have a picture of it, or even a vague understanding of it. It's one of the things I accept purely on faith, it's one of the things that God has granted me the serenity to accept the fact that I'll never understand it while still on Earth, and any attempt to do so is pure vanity. I'll tell you when I get there ;)

I know it's there - though not sure where 'there' is. I think I think my consciousness will exist intact, though I have no idea why. There have been occasions that I have had the luxury of spending extended periods of time in prayer and contemplation. It is because of spiritual experiences I had then that I became certain that there is more beyond this place. I'm fascinated by the thought that whatever it is entails existence in other dimensions, but that's just my little human brain trying to get a handle on the incomprehensible.

And thanks for the question. You've just reminded me of something very important :)

lol! i love it! i'd ask Her to sally forth the men, because i'm almost certain my g-d would be a lot like Arabess: generous, wild, sympathetic, and cool. like dionysius with a conscience and some clothes.

End of my rope

The bible mentions a street of gold, the pearly gates, walls of jasper, and the throne of God. I myself picture heaven as a place full of beauty. God has only given us glimpses with the beauty here on earth. I think they'll be mountains with cool pure streams running off of it to the ocean. I believe that every beautiful thing we have here on earth will exist in heaven in a more pure and even more beautiful form. And through the middle of it will run a street of pure gold that leads right up to the throne of God, with Jesus on his right. And the love that emenates from them will be visible in a pure white light. I'll bow at Gods feet and thank him for my life, for my family, for all the good and bad things that have happened in my life that made me who I am. Then I'll go to Jesus and look into the eyes of a man who loved me so much that he died for me that my sins be forgiven and thank him. I believe we'll see family long dead and everyone will live in peace and serenity for eternity with God watching over us and our Saviour walking amongst us.

That's what I believe heaven to be... or what I hope it will be.

I'm with Jenny.....I'd be asking "Where do you keep the beer and single guys or are the married ones now considered single????" LOL!

Truthfully, I DO believe in heaven. I do not think it is a wierd or mythological place. Chances are we have about as much knowledge to comprehend it as some lost Brazilian tribe would be able to comprehend NYC or the 'value of time'....since they don't do clocks and watches.

That's why I don't get upset if I read something in the Bible I don't fully understand. I figure it's pretty difficult to write something on a level which expands so many cultures and time. It would be like explaining computers to some illiterate peasant in the middle ages. It doesn't negate it as being true though....if it represents your personal religion.

Do I have a specific questions for God? YOU BET. I just happen to ask them as I get them.

God does not MAKE anyone's life hell. Life is what YOU make it. Take the power that you own.

I hate to believe we are just food for the worms.

There has to be something after we die. Heaven sounds good enough for me.

I don't believe in Heaven - I'm agnostic and don't believe in anything really. I think being worm food is noble. My remains may nourish the worm whose fate the planets future rests upon. ;)

As a fantasy -- if there is a Heaven there had better be dogs there or I'm not going! :)

If there is a God and I meet Him -- I'll look him in the eye, open my mouth and ask "Wazzz-uuup?" After all, IF we were created by a God then He gave us our sense of humor and that had to come from someplace -- right! ;)

I have a difficult time believing the streets are made of gold. Gold has little intrinsic value to metalworking, certainly it's pliable, but it would be impractical to pave streets with. The rarity of gold is the entire reason it's so valuable, so placing a valuable metal in heaven would be silly, because if it were abound, it wouldn't be valuable. I would think we wouldn't need streets in heaven, streets cause nothing but trouble, with the traffic, I couldn't imagine we'd have automobiles in heaven, they're so ugly and inefficient, in terms of pollution, and refueling...
