yes
how do you balance your drive to achieve your goals with staying relaxed and cool? i find that i'm either in panicy mode, obsessing over achieving my goals or whether or not i like my goals, OR i'm totally mellow, "nothing rlly matters" kinds of thing. i'd like to combine the two - strive to achieve what i want, but without panicing, in a relaxed mode. my guess is that the trick is to have and value your goals, but keep them in the perspective that all in all, the universe will go on no matter what. does that make any sense? any advice or thoughts? thanks, -yes
Darkangelism
What i have found that works is to spend a little time each day decompressing from stress.
Author yes
that sounds reasonable, DAism , but what i'd like to do is not 'get stressed, destress, repeat', but stay cool throughout (as much as possible). anyone else? -yes
Arabess
I'm such an anxiety SPAZ.....my doctor put me on medication which I now have to worry about remembering to take. LOL! Yes, I don't know if most people have some wonderful balance on a daily basis. I think they are more prone to have more stress filled times and more at peace times. 'Work -vs- Vacation or Weekends' type of thing. It's all about learning to ride the waves of life. Sometimes you are surfing along...and other times you crash.
Darkangelism
Staying cool all the time isnt possible, im real laid back, but its not something i control. The only way to stay stress free is not do things that cause stress, unfortunatly that is practical.
Author yes
i guess you can tell what a stress-freak i am - i mean i'm even stressing abt not relaxing enough, lol. it's true that it's all abt just riding the wave and seeing what happens... -yes PS didja take that medication today? just a reminder! Thinkalot
Hi- I hear ya! I am a stress head too, and great at obsessing about stuff LOL! Meditation helps. As for keeping things in perspective...look at the big picture. That's what I do when I get too focussed on something small. Think about the BIG things that matter...ie, being healthy, your family, plans to travel, maybe marry some day, or whatever it may be for you. Then the small career oriented goals kind of simmer down a bit, and find their place. I was so career driven and ambitious until I travelled/lived overseas for 18 months. The all of the sudden other things seemed more important. My eyes were opened to so many other ways of living, and thinking, outside the usual square. I am now still driven to do things, but different kinds of things. And when I stress too much, I pull back again and look at the big picture once more. It can be very calming.
