have any of you ever been there?

what was you wake up call?

i am an addict that has hit bottom, then rebounded, and then gone lower each subsequent time....it seems i am a multiple grounder.

but that is why i ask.... i guess i never woke up after seeing the light all the other times...or i guess it wasn't the very very bottom...unfortunately i think my rock bottom will be death, i do hope not though.

I don't know Tat. Your posts are great....so you still have your faculties in tact. You ARE posting...inicating you have a job or a internet connection at home.....not living on the street. I'm assuming you aren't starving. SO NO....you have NOT hit rock bottom.

Perhaps just not getting any closer to it would be enough to thwart getting back into old destructive patterns.

I don't know what kind of an addiction you are referring to. I happen to drink a lot. Not all the time, but once I start, it's hard to stop. I made a list for myself as to how this was impacting my life. I refer to the list before making the decision to start. I still make beer jokes and still drink it.....but not even close to where I once was.

Wake up call???? I DID wake up to realize I left for more beer in the middle of the night and actually had one of my children in the car with me. I didn't even remember going, I just saw the beer and Wendy bags. It scared the hell out of me. I swore to never drink and drive again....and never did.

Maybe you could try focusing on what IS important to you and realizing it's more important than an addiction.

Sometimes hitting rock bottom is of no consequence when you've become too numb to feel it.

Who or what is your support system Tat? Do you have one?

I've been there... and sometimes you just get so sick of picking your self up again rock bottom seems to be ok

Your a smart person, think about all the great qualities about yourself and concentrate on how you can use them in your life instead of other things.

You are smart, insightful and self aware. Aware enough to be posting and chatting on here, which means somethings are still working out right in your life and you are still on top of some understanding of your situation. So many people don't have that at all, and it's a big thing.

Draw on whatever support structures you have around you, including Lshack, and remind yourself of all the things you'd like to do/improve and focus on that.

Don't be harsh on yourself for setbacks you've already had, just move forward now and look to the positive future you can have.

Do what you need to do to get there and you will. :)
